I heard an interesting interview with a hurricane expert on the radio about two weeks ago.

He said that most people don't realize that Florida used to get whacked hugely by hurricanes until the 1940's. There was a change in the weather patterns then, and it has changed back to that old pattern recently. Maybe not 4 big hurricanes in one year - but 2 or 3 enormous ones were standard issue.

He said that since Florida was comparatively empty until sometime in the 1970's, there are very few people who remember what a 'real' hurricane season is all about. It is also why the damage amounts seemed to grow so dramatically all of a sudden.

He laid quite a bit of blame on a series of government authorities who allowed all kinds of inappropriate building exemptions over the past three, three and a half decades.

Here are this week's gold stars for all the reformed smokers out there. I expect Foxy will be 'round with her stars, which are much prettier, when the debates have cooled off a bit. Very Happy

I posted my stars several days ago and they're gone. Sad

I really am so proud of everybody.

But thanks Jer. Somebody has to take care of me. Your stars shows up as a little white square with a red X in it on my screen, but then I've never learned how to post a picture in here.

Somebody want to PM me or email me at FoxfyreA2K with instructions on how to do that?

Can I post Images?
Images can indeed be shown in your posts. However, there is no facility at present for uploading images directly to this board. Therefore you must link to an image stored on a publicly accessible web server, e.g. http://www.some-unknown-place.net/my-picture.gif. You cannot link to pictures stored on your own PC (unless it is a publicly accessible server) nor to images stored behind authentication mechanisms such as Hotmail or Yahoo mailboxes, password-protected sites, etc. To display the image use either the BBCode [img] tag or appropriate HTML (if allowed).

Well, and obviously your image, Jer, is only to be seen at your computer = you are logged in there, or similar.

Um.....<cough>.....could you translate that into English....at about nursery school level? I'm a whiz at word processing and using pre-designed forms but a complete klutz when it comes to any of this technical stuf. I'm sure what you wrote there is absolutely wonderful Jer, and I understand almost nothing from it.

Foxy,

I just pasted my last post from the A2K FAQ.

Essentially what you need to do to post an image is this:

Find the image at a website. (ie. http://www.google.ca/intl/en_ca/images/logo.gif )

Then when you're entering your post you click on the "IMG" button and it will ask you for the image URL.

So you paste the image url into the box "http://www.google.ca/intl/en_ca/images/logo.gif" and click okay.

In your posting box it will look like this:

Code:[IMG]http://www.google.ca/intl/en_ca/images/logo.gif[/IMG]

Preview it and then click submit and you'll have a picture in the thread.

Try it using the image url that I just included there.

Do that make any sense?

Fox, dear, try this:

1. Right click the picture you like and click on properties
2. Copy the address.
3. Click IMG in you post... and paste it in the blank.
Be sure you only have"http://" once.
If that doesn't work, it isn't your fault.

Like Jer said, it must be on the internet... not your hard drive.

Thanks guys. I'll try it later when I close up shop for the day. Does A2K still have that area where you can test posts and stuff? Before I post something embarassing in this thread I mean?

Just click 'preview' before you post and then you can see if it's gonna work.

Doing fine Kristie... glad you are too!

BBB- are you sure you copied the entire address, just to the right of where it says:
"Address
(URL)"
? Sometimes the address takes up two lines, btw… (Also, make sure there is no space either before or after your address)
This is how I post all my pictures. Confused

Like this wonderful shot:

OB
OB, oh my gawd, a horse wearing racing stripe sweat pants. How does he get them off so he doesn't poop in them?

I followed your excellent instructions exactly, but it didn't work. Never has. I think some computers-systems are different and not compatible with A2K in this respect. But I will keep trying.

You know about the ctrl+c / ctrl+v commands, yeah?

Try it on OB's horse image!
