Heeven; it's a vicious circle, without the smoking you'll soon have lungs capable of sustaining your walking, but untill then, the only puffing you will do ....................!
it can only get better!
Just remember, once the nicotine is out of your system--some say seven days; some say it takes twenty one days--the cravings come like aftershocks following an earthquake. Some are stronger than others but none are permanent. And over time they become further apart and less in intensity until at some point, usually within a few weeks, they stop altogether.
Hang in there all you quitters. You can be proud of doing one of the hardest things most of us are called upon to do.
Just talked to squinney. She's smoking a little less, but smoking regularly. Sad.....
Aw, damn it Squinney. REDOUBLE YOUR EFFORTS.
Go Heeven!
Come back and
Go Squinney!
Temporary setbacks don't have to be failures. Fight!
(and thanks again Fox)
Aw.
Well, she is dealing with a tough situation at the same time trying to quit. Hugs to Squinney.
Oh, and Heeven, way to go.
Hmm, I don't suppose you do any knitting?
No knitting but I am going to have to develop some new habits.
I feel totally nauseated by cigarettes now - having been clean for 15 years! Your time will come.
I found four things especially helpful Heeven:
1) My Nordic Track
2) Learning to play guitar.
3) Karaoke (at home only)
4) Crochet
The Nordic Track has recently been replaced with a treadmill.
I can remember how to play I think five guitar chords but hey, you can sing a lot of songs with five chords.
I can't knit but did try to string beads to make Southwestern jewelry. The beads didn't work out too well so I started out to crochet a cap and wound up with a football field sized tarp. But whatever works.
Nobody gets to listen to my karaoke.
But it all kept me busy and smoke free during the aftershock period.
It's all worth it.
I checked my trash-can for butts last night - that's NOT good! And I soo wanted a cigarette with my coffee this morning.
Beads ... hmm, foxy that might be something that would keep my hands busy. Gotta go shopping ...
Awesome! I drink my normal pot of coffee in the morning and have added a pot of decafe (90%) later in the day/night. I've managed to separate the coffee from cig and now use it instead...
Go Heeven!
I would like to propose a toast:
"to those brave souls whom we all count on to prove that at "A2K";
EVEN OUR "QUITTERS" AREN'T QUITTERS !
Shaking my pom poms here!
EVEN OUR "QUITTERS" AREN'T QUITTERS !
EVEN OUR "QUITTERS" AREN'T QUITTERS !
EVEN OUR "QUITTERS" AREN'T QUITTERS !
HHHHHooooooorrrrrrraaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyy!!
Blast - I see the ra-ra's and chanting going on here - and feel guilty for thinking of sneaking a ciggie.
Heeven
Bill's "improved circulation" applies to women, too, you know!
Yeah, Bill's been trying to apply it to women.
<rimshot!>
Woohoo Jes, that was spicy!
