Yeah, learning.... that's the ticket!

Anywho, for every person who sez it's innapropriate I bet there are 10 here who think the concerns are just "political correctness" or somesuch. Tis subjective and all.

Actually, probably way more than 10. Humor is teflon.

Speaking for the anti-PC Watchdog group--I was actually offended, not just by the thread opener--but a few of the additional comments about children... but I didn't want to throw a blanket, so I just left--a little surprised.

What comments about children were offensive?

I don't see anything written about children that was anything but accurate.

Jim... Razz

My favorite sign is the one that says "Drive With Caution Deaf Child In Area" Mr. Green

Not calling anyone out, for sure. And then you went off on blind people... It hurt my feelings. Possibly too sensitive in this area.

Et tu sofia? I've never thought you were a static ideologue but would still have never guessed (what with the anti-PC brigade and all). Thanks for saying so, I felt lonely being the wet blanket and it gave me pause more than once.

Honestly, I believe so, in that you are a little too sensitive.

The example you bring up is not at anyone's expense.

As far as blind children being less likely to be hit by cars, I believe that statement to be entirely accurate. It was an observation, and so you are only offended at my opinion in that case. Not to pick on you, but I think you are a perfect example of people whose offense I am not responsible for. But you know I love ya'. Smile

I love ya back, and I didn't think you were trying to offend.

I am too sensitive to jokes at the expense of blind people, deaf people--most especially children, and disabled people, and black people and Jewish people...and poor people...dead people...

Which is why I stayed away, until the PC issue came up. I am famously anti-PC, and rightly or wrongly felt compelled to give my opinion.

We have some very sweet people here, who are vision and hearing impaired, also.

But, just disregard. I didn't show up to try to make anyone feel bad. I was just responding to Craven's post.

For the record, I was annoyed with this thread from the very first post -- way before it got into deaf kids territory -- but I figured SCoates has had quite enough of me yukking at him. (As in "yuk", not "yuk-yuk-yuk".) As long as someone says it. (And if no-one says it, I will, 'cause sometimes I think it needs to be said even if it's funny.)

A whole lot of us are vulnerable over time.

Riffing all over that surely must be fun.

I'm not really against it.

But, why again is it so much fun? I get the thing about freedom of expression. I may surprise you, SCoates, but
I understand your humor, or am getting there.

but wait, how will you feel when the zero'd in on is you?
Or is it?

Aw shoot.....I came here looking for another good laugh, and I see you guys have gotten yourselves all worked up. Damn. Can't we have a little irreverent, tasteless humor now and then? If there's room for fart jokes, surely there's room for this.

Oh well. I'll go find someplace else to play.

Who's worked up? Calm down Eva, easy does it. Breathe, take another one, now let it out slowly....

Tee hee
