@revelette2,
Because war crimes don't ever go away. You might have noticed that the USA hypocritically sends old war criminals back to stand trial for their crimes from long ago.

What's good for the goose, ... .

@JTT,
I ask because I'm interested in the answers I may receive.

I'm glad that you're sure that you can predict them, but I'm not.

I think the two most likely answers will be:

1) Makes sense. Before we invest money, resources, and possibly lives we should make sure the source of the problem (Maliki) is removed so that the root cause of the current crisis can be resolved.

2) It's wrong. Maliki was democratically elected by the Iraqi people. Who are we to insist that he resign?

I suppose a third response, a version of #2, might be:

3) We should strongly suggest that Maliki do something to address the root cause, even if that means resigning, but we can't force him out and we shouldn't make this a required condition of our helping to save thousands of lives.

And maybe I'll be surprised by a 4th or 5th.

Thanks for providing your answer, by the way. I put it in the #2 column.

Whoa! You teed that one up nicely for JTT.

I get your point and I'm sure you didn't intended to be callous, but it doesn't matter how you phrased it, you were going to get that reply from our friend.

@Finn dAbuzz,
You talk so glibly about committing terrorist actions, Finn. It's almost like you are used to them, completely comfortable with them and their deadly and vicious results.

Really, Finn, what is the difference between the USA and the Nazis?

@revelette2,
See what I mean, Rev, USA war crimes the equivalent of the Nazis and y'all are worried about the effect upon the USA.

Germany and Japan have taken steps towards what they have done. The USA is always looking for more people it can bomb into oblivion.

And y'all don't see the disconnect from reality?!

@JTT,
I don't suppose there is anything stop other countries from pursuing filling charges against the US, so far, no one has. Other than that, I don't know what you want from me or anyone else other than to totally denounce our country as Satan.

Pretty sure it is directed towards me as I sometimes use it or I just spell it out as you all. Or I could just think the world revolves around me.

Obama sending military advisers to Iraq

Quote:
WASHINGTON (AP) — President Barack Obama on Thursday said he was dispatching up to 300 military advisers to Iraq to help quell the rising insurgency in the crumbling state. He called on Iraqi leaders to govern with a more "inclusive agenda" to ensure the country does not descend into civil war.

Holding back from more robust options, Obama left open the option of "targeted" military action in the future, and he said the U.S. also would increase its intelligence efforts in Iraq and was prepared to create joint operations centers with Iraqis. But he was adamant that U.S. troops would not be returning to combat in Iraq.

Obama, who offered an update to U.S. operations in Iraq after meeting with his national security team, said the United States is forming joint operations centers in Baghdad and northern Iraq.

Obama said it's going to be hard for the current Iraqi government to resolve the country's crisis unless the government is more inclusive. But he stopped short of calling for Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki to resign, saying it's not America's job to choose Iraq's leaders.

He said whoever is prime minister must make sure all sectarian groups feel they can advance their interest through the political process.

Typical, over the top, childish American response, Rev. How long would you hang with hubby if he committed these same heinous acts?

What you are saying is that the people, you, are comfortable with having your governments, which y'all supposedly control, committing these heinous acts for you. Then on top of it all lie to y'all telling you that they do good in the world, that they are not depraved murderous thieves.

And y'all welcome the troops home.

You'd be wrong there, Rev.

But why do you want/expect anyone BUT the rule of law USA, the country that brags about how no one is above the law, how diligently the USA works to see justice done, to hold your own war criminals/terrorists to account?
