Editorial Reviews
Review
Over a period of nearly two millennia, the Christian Church has oppressed and brutalized millions of individuals. Meticulously researched and courageously written, "The Dark Side of Christian History" by Helen Ellerbe examines the Church's devastating impact upon human freedom, dignity and spirituality. Written for the lay reader, this controversial book is especially relevant today as the religious right is attempting to assert greater influence in American politics and society. "The Dark Side of Christian History presents a compelling argument that the Church's desire to control and contain spiritually motivated its persecution of heretics, its burning of libraries, the Crusades, the Inquisition, and the witch-hunts. This dark Christianity ahs left a legacy, a world view, which permeates every aspect of Western society. It is a legacy which fosters sexism, racism, the intolerance of difference and the desecration of the natural environment. Helen Ellerbe is a researcher, writer, and public speaker living in the San Francisco bay area. -- Midwest Book Review

A lot of Christians wear crosses around their necks. You think when
Jesus comes back he ever wants to see a ******* cross? It's like going
up to Jackie Onassis wearing a rifle pendant.

Maybe i'll be able to answer that if and when I can figger out what Quehon was trying to say.
All I know is that anybody who doesn't like this must be off their rocker-
"Love one another, feed the hungry, house the homeless, clothe the destitute, tend the sick, visit the prisoners, look after the poor"- Jesus of Nazareth (Mark 12:30, John 13:34, Matt 25: 37-40)

For that, you are correct. But you left out all the other religions of the world, all having roots in Babylon.

In fact, the Bible makes reference to those religions in Revelation Chapters 17 and 18. A good read if you are interested in God's view of a priesthood taking political and commercial bed partners.

But Jesus TRASHED all that Old Testament harshness once and for all and gave us the NEW Testament, and people quickly cottoned on..Smile

"Jesus saved you from the empty way of life handed you by your forefathers" (1 Pet 1:18 )
"Through Jesus we are saved, and not through Moses" (Acts 13:39)
"We serve in the new way of the spirit, not in the old way of the written code" (Rom 7:6)
"The law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ" (John 1:17)
"The covenant of Jesus is superior to the old one" (Heb 8:6)

For example when a fundy mob wanted to kill a woman under the old laws, Jesus rescued her and told them- "On yer bikes!"
