Im just tired and pissed at this entire tale..As a nation, We have been manipulated and lied to in a cynical fashion. AND ANOTHER THING
WHY the hell. doesnt the GOP have to pay for all the midday propoganda from all the melonheads on radio..
Its pure and simple political advertisement cloaked as talk shows...

If it werent for Limbaugh, Beck, Hannity and all the other Goebbels wannabe's, Bush would have no policy at all.

Sorry , Ill shut up .. I feel like the old lady that had her entire lifesavings stolen by some shiny suit Evangelist. Weve had almost 1000 kids of the younger generation lose their lives for what? How many more parents and wives (and husbands) are gonna have a string of lonely Holidays and family celebrations that will become memorials to kids who lost their lives for no reason.
Im beginning to feel like a citizen of the Third Reich who hasnt spoken up against this madness. I think Im going to have to begin speaking out in some fashion.

If I would drink , Id have to say, lets all hoist one in memory of those kids whove died at their post. Their honor, no matter how foolishly spent, is not diminished in my eyes. Im glad we have brave kids like that watching our backs. Im just sorry weve asked them to spend their precious lives in some vainglorious adventure perped by the Texas Tyro..

amen to that, farmerman. Many are as disgusted as you are; but when fifty percent of Americans think Bush is doing a good job on the war on terrorism, there's not much we can do but post on these chat rooms to let off some steam. How people are able to deny the destruction this administration has brought to this planet - but especially to our country - is a mystery of the highest order. We're sacrificing our young generation for a purpose that is so skewed, I'm afraid to predict what the long-term cost is going to be. I hope those supporting this administration is ready to send their children to fight this war; I'm not willing to send mine.

This is an interview with Shadia Drury I posted a year ago...it helps at least in understanding one component of 'why?'

Farmer

I feel disgusted now I know the truth just as you do. I was in two minds until quite recently. I thought there were some honourable intentions and some good outcomes possible in Iraq.

But American and British intentions in Iraq are not honourable. It is motivated solely by the (desperate) need to control oil. The Iraq gamble has not paid off, only provoked a guerilla war which America will lose.

The systematic use of torture and humiliation to gain intelligence, gives the lie to the invasion being to do with liberating the Iraqi people from a murderous regime.

If they have been reduced to torture the Bush administration is desperate. The fact that there are no WMD in Iraq contradicts the foundation of all their prewar posturing and exposes them for what they are. The men and women who lead this country at the moment have squandered over 200 years of good will and honor that this country has accumulated from what it stands for (even if it did not always live up to it's ideals). They are in power and are attempting to remain in power through corrupt elections, a corrupted Supreme Court, lies, and fear mongering and IMHO they will not give up power easily.

Some foreign officer to Iraq was saying the US should pull out of Iraq; things are getting worse every day - not better. He says it's a losing proposition if we stay; more of our young men and women will get killed for a unreachable goal of bringing peace to the region. He said the switch over on June 30 is for Iraqi sovereignty is a myth when the US and UN has chosen all the new leaders. He said that the longer we stay, the more recruits the insurgency will get from outside of Iraq. He said that the only solution is to turn over control of Iraq over to the Iraqis. They are the ones that must bring peace to their own region. I agree.

Wiggle and squirm all you want. Maybe if you click your heels together three times you can wish away the 55 gallon drums of "pesticide" at the ammunition dumps or the 500 tons of natural uranium that was found. I'm sure all that stuff was nothing more than benign ingredients used in baby formula.

The constant whining about going to Iraq under bogus justification is wearing thin also. We're all aware that the United Nations and the intelligence services of most civilized countries thought Saddam had WMD. Those 16 words spoken during the State of the Union speech were absolutely true - Britain did think Saddam was trying to get uranium. But the lefties tend to conveniently forget about the truth that's buried in the past, so they can jump up and down, flapping their arms and screaming "BUSH LIED!!! BUSH LIED!!!" at the top of their lungs. Well, that act (and that's all it is - an act) is getting really old.
