@Olivier5,
It is interesting that the military censors approved releasing this. Makes you wonder if the military is quietly taking a side. I wonder what the fallout in Israel is if any.

@engineer,
My guess is they are sending a message, as they did when they leaked the same thing to the media some years ago. Something like: "the IDF is not as crazy as the politicians and we're not going to allow them to destroy this country."

US President Barack Obama has secured enough support in the US Senate to ensure that the Iran nuclear deal will go into effect.

Democrat Barbara Mikulski of Maryland became the 34th senator to back the deal on Wednesday.

US Congress could still oppose the deal, but Mr Obama has now enough votes to override any resolution of disapproval.

It does not make sense for the R's to support this as a political matter at this point. Say no and if it does not work over the next few years bash the D for it. If it does work in 15 years nobody cares.

Morally is another question.

@hawkeye10,
If it works, it would be a landmark deal in which the republicans were known to be against. The same type of people who care now will care in history too. Just like democrats are still paying for supporting the Iraq war along with republicans. They should have been like the republicans and went against the President, but they didn't and are still known for it.

Coordinated Strategy Brings Obama Victory on Iran Nuclear Deal
...

But the president’s potentially legacy-defining victory — a highly partisan one in the end — was also the result of an aggressive, cooperative strategy between the White House and congressional Democrats to forcefully push back against Republican critics, whose allies had begun a determined, $20 million-plus campaign to kill the deal.

Overwhelmed by Republicans and conservatives in previous summers when political issues like the health care legislation were effectively put on trial, Democrats sought to make sure that momentum remained behind the president on the Iran agreement in both the Senate and the House.

Under the direction of Representative Nancy Pelosi of California, the Democratic leader, and a team of lieutenants, House Democrats orchestrated a daily roll-out of endorsements of the Iran deal from a Capitol war room, tucked into Ms. Pelosi’s office just off the House chamber. They parceled out their statements to make clear that House members were closing ranks behind the agreement and distributed letters of support from colleagues and respected outside experts to both wavering colleagues and the news media. They pushed back against reports they believed wrongly threatened the deal.

@InfraBlue,
GOP became disconnected to their "override" strategy. Most Americqns arent as rqbidly anti the deal because its better than the vacuum presented by the Repubs.

If GOP wants to take over the govt, they either gotta re-tool totally or learn to lie even better. They have to make us believe that their lapses of leadership are actually strategy

Fox News Turns On Dick Cheney And Exposes His Record Of Failure On Iran

Quote:
WALLACE: Mr. Vice President, you say that President Obama never put a serious nuclear option on the table, but you and President Bush, the Bush/Cheney administration dealt with Iran for eight years. And I think it’s fair to say that there was never any real serious military threat. And during your time, let’s put these numbers up on the screen, Iran went from zero known centrifuges in operation to more than 5,000. So in fairness, didn’t you leave the Bush Cheney administration leave President Obama with a mess?

D. CHENEY: Well, I don’t think of it that way. In fact, there was military action that had an impact on the Iranians, when we took down Saddam Hussein. There was a period of time when they stopped their program because they were afraid of what we did to Saddam we were going to do to them next. We also, when we took down Saddam, Moammar Gadhafi surrendered up his nuclear program. When we got that, then went and got his suppler, Mr. A.Q. Khan. We did a lot to limit nuclear proliferation in the region while we were there.

WALLACE: But the centrifuges went from zero to 5,000.

D. CHENEY: Well, and they well have gone, but that happened on Obama’s watch, not on our watch.

WALLACE: No, no, by 2009, they were at 5,000.

D. CHENEY: Right. But I think we did a lot to deal with the arms control problem in the Middle East….

There was still plenty of Obama bashing in the interview as the Cheneys, and Fox News agreed that the President is to blame for the Syrian refugee crisis, and the Cheneys got in all of their talking points about how President Obama has destroyed the United States by not continuing to wage endless wars in the Middle East.

For a few moments, the truth got out.

Dick Cheney’s real record as Vice President is one of foreign policy disaster and failure. Cheney was part of an administration that falsely connected 9/11 to Iraq. The Bush administration’s policy towards N. Korea was a complete disaster. Bush and Cheney lied about weapons of mass destruction and promoted an ineffective policy of torture. The Bush administration had no plans for the wars that they started and even less of a desire to pay for them.

George W. Bush and Dick Cheney left Barack Obama with a huge mess to clean up when he took office. President Obama has responded by doing the things that Bush/Cheney failed to do. Bin Laden is dead. Diplomacy is alive. The nuclear program that Iran accelerated under Bush and Cheney will be stopped under Obama.

Dick Cheney hates President Obama because the Obama administration has proven that Cheney was wrong about everything.

The facts are so obvious that occasionally even Fox News can see them.

Democrats clinch critical votes for Iran nuclear deal

Quote:
WASHINGTON (AP) — Pressing their advantage, the White House and insistent Senate Democrats locked up the votes Tuesday to frustrate attempts by outraged Republicans to pass a legislative rebuke to the Iran nuclear accord.

Four previously undeclared Senate Democrats — Richard Blumenthal of Connecticut, Ron Wyden of Oregon, Gary Peters of Michigan and Maria Cantwell of Washington state — announced their support for the international agreement in a coordinated burst. That pushed supporters to a 42-vote total, one more than necessary to block a GOP disapproval resolution with a filibuster, and prevent a final vote.

"There is no better deal available now," declared Blumenthal, one of the Senate's Jewish Democrats, announcing his support for an accord that is strongly opposed by Israeli leaders as well as Republican senators.

@revelette2,
It is interesting that Jewish Democratic Senators are coming out for the deal even though they could choose to take political cover since the administration has sufficient votes already.

@engineer,
Perhaps for a change Senators and congressmen and women have actually read something and decided that at this present time, the deal offers the best solution? It would be a nice change if that is so rather than just going with the political winds or one's own personal ideological views. At first I think they were just trying to get enough votes to sustain a veto, now I think they are trying to get enough votes to keep the bill from passing or even going to the floor?

How do you know that oh wise one?

The fact is that the majority of Americans oppose the deal.

That's not enough?

A trillion dollars a year in defense plus intel spending a year means that what we think matters more than what you think. When there is a new global sheriff this rule of power will still exist.
