I saw TOWING the line in an esteemed Sunday newspaper this week!

Quite common, is that.
And it's one you could believe, as in SCoates' comment, to pick up the rope and help by towing it, in other words to cooperate.

Yeah, I do that quite frequently when I'm too lazy to get out of the tractor and roll up the chain/rope.

It had to happen that I would post on this thread again.

Retrospective determinism and other logical fallacies muchly amuse me.

What does that mean?

Again heard 'honing in on..' instead of 'homing in on..' - funny one this, as home is such a normal word, hone not.

Heard one on the TV last night, watching the football:

"England are not adapt at the close-passing game...."

It may have been a slip of the tongue.

An A2K special:

Asking for "advise" instead of "advice".

"I appreciate all the advise and feedback from you guys."

"When I want your advise, I'll ask for it."

She / he "turned around and said...."

!!!

.....like somebody revolved on the spot before speaking.

Can be heard frequently on the Jeremy Kyle Show, along with "I fell pregnant".

Very Happy A fallen woman.

As I go on my merry way through life, I often come across things which strike me as suitable for the "Peeves" thread, but then I forget all about them them again. I think it is a Senior problem. Time for my morning cuppa. Embarrassed Confused

Oh yes, I can't bear all these revolving people turning round and saying things (and half the time I bet they didn't, since they all seem to have torn their bosses off a strip).

When you hone in on a sharpening project you curl the blade and dull the knife.

I prefer to home in on, find my target and complete my mission.
