That is a worry if you are in the US, as it been my understanding ever since President Kennedy met his fate by a killer using a mail order rifle firearms can not legally be shipped directly to anyone without a firearm dealer license.

The Constitution protects our right to have assault weapons. If anyone doesn't like it, too bad for them.

It is pretty damn sick that you and H20 and others are not willing to concede there is no reason to have an assault weapon...Just because the Constitution allows it...

What do you plan to do if someone actually breaks into your home? Kill them twice? Gimme a break...

This garbage is a reason why millions can't sleep at night...And your only alternative is to buy a bigger gun...? Who wins? The first to get their hands on a WMD?

We in the US are the winners aren't we?

This tragedy happened just 43 miles from my front door...Go try explaining this to one of the parents of an 8 year old girl who got slaughtered just for going to school one day...

@BillRM,
No, Frank has merely stated that even you can agree there is a line past which someone should not be allowed guns. Now it's just a question of where that line is.

Frank, I hate to agree with bill, but he is correct.
If the simple rules of gun safety are followed, a firearm cannot hurt you.

Always assume a gun is loaded, unless you unload it and check it yourself.
NEVER leave a gun where children can get to it.
Never point it at anything or anyone you don't intend to shoot.

As long as those basic rules are followed, that will seriously reduce accidental shootings in this country.

Will there still be accidents?
Of course there will be, people are people after all.
But following those 3 simple rules will greatly reduce accidents.

No problem, Mysteryman. I understand.

You seem confused about that whole Constitution thing. If you want to ban assault weapons, you have to have a reason to justify that ban.

You don't have such a reason.

Are you contending that harmless cosmetic features like a pistol grip will allow someone to be killed twice?

XXSpadeMasterXX wrote:

The fact that you are not allowed to violate our civil rights does not actually cause much in the way of sleeplessness.

XXSpadeMasterXX wrote:

Bigger???

If someone lives in Alaska and needs to contend with the bears there, it might behoove them to step up to .375 Holland & Holland.

Harmless cosmetic features like pistol grips do not actually make a gun bigger.

The American people win. The NRA protects their freedom.

I never suggested anything of the sort. I merely expressed MY opinion about the kind of person I think should not own guns.

Sure you did

I most assuredly did not, Bill. Stop with the straw men.

I defy you to find where I said: "So who ever in power at the time can take anyone weapons aways from them by declaring they are too angry/hostile to have weapons without the need for them to break any law just exercising their first amendment rights in a manner the party then in power do not care for."

I did what I said I did...which was to give MY opinion. I did not even suggest it should be the opinion of everyone. And I asked you what you opinion would be.

Stop with the straw men.

Quote:
...and I myself had been hostile in expressing my opinion concerning the GOP on this website and by your standard that should somehow reflected on my abilities to be a gun owner at least when they god forbid get back into power.

You are distorting what I said to the point where it is not close to what I actually said. Go back...cut and paste what I said...and tell me what you disagree with what I actually said, rather than what you are pretending I said.

Quote:
The punishment for expressing opinions in a hostile manner would be to be disarmed it would seems in your ideal world.

I have Bill. And if they were all banned your other point would be moot.

'if they were all banned'

Like I said, the Obama disarmament America plan is real and they do want all firearms banned.
After a full ban is in place they will move to confiscate all firearms from law abiding Americans.

The strange thing is that they have no disarmament plan for American criminals... the criminal element loves this.

If they are confused about the concept of civil rights, perhaps a remedial education course would be in order for them.

I don't see that.

Well look, you're all really bad people. You are trying to violate people's civil rights, and for no other reason than the fun you get from violating their rights.

You don't have any real reason to ban pistol grips, or any real reason to ban duck hunting guns.

On a moral level, you're all right about the same level as the KKK and the 9/11 attackers.
