All the Republicans are doing is requiring a photo ID in order to vote. That is a perfectly reasonable barrier to raise.

Sorry when you have hundreds of thousands of valid repeat valid voters in a state without photo IDs and the state can not show one repeat one case of in person voter fraud in the last ten years or so in the same state it is not a reasonable requirement.

There is nothing stopping them from getting a photo ID if they don't have one.

Now, if people want to implement the law gradually, so people have time to get an ID if they don't have one, that would be reasonable.

But in the end, if they still refuse to get an ID, they are not going to be able to vote.

That's a bit off topic. You need another physics lesson?

Me, you and others may disagree about many things but I am almost certain that we agree on the majority of important issues.
Please if you could try and listen to all of the different news even if you disagree with them so that maybe we can all find a middle ground.
You may think I am crazy but just as me and you do not wake up every morning and decide that we are going to be who we are, "neither do our children nor grandchildren.
The sad truth is that some of them will eventually be psychopaths and it will not be of their choice but regardless they will be who they are.

What can we do to protect ourselves and them from the mental problems that we think they have?

Time and money and transportation.......................

All the factors that the GOP hope would allow them to block the voting of valid voters that tend to not vote for them.

Sorry the government does not have the right to take the right to vote alway to fight a problem that does not exist. Show there a problem before placing barriers for voters to jump through.

As this is an non-existing problem it is just an excuse to do the worst sin in any democracy IE take away the right to vote from valid voters.

OK, Oraboy, teach me something I don't know.

BTW I saw your discussion in an earlier thread concerning the cardinality of physics using real and imaginary applications, and have mused with people much smarter than either of us about the difference between real, imaginary and discreet applications between quantum physics and continuous applications of classical physics in regard to mathematical models .

So I'm waiting for your sage edumacation to the retard raprap.

Glad you take such glee in this "consumer demand".

The man who ambushed and killed those firemen in upstate NY was a senior citizen, he was 62. There is no age limit on who might cause multiple deaths with these weapons. Among the several weapons he had was the same assault rifle used to kill those 20 children in Connecticut. And similar to one of the weapons used by the Aurora movie theater shooter.

Nice to know you applaud seeing more of these guns in circulation--the weapon favored by the recent multiple killers for their shooting sprees--nothing like being happy that the next mass murder will have the weapon of choice in his hands, right, BillRM?

@firefly,
pressure groups routinely use underhanded manipulative methods to include lying, the NRA and those on the Right are certainly no worse than are the ones on the left. those pushing their agenda can never be trusted to speak truth though, at root the problem is the idiot masses who let them get away with it.

It depends on the circumstances. An actual psychopath would be deterred if it were probable that they would be caught and punished.

Mentally ill people could be helped by having better treatment. And people who snap because life treats them unfairly could be helped by making sure that people get treated justly.

Once a shooting spree is underway, probably the only thing that will stop it is the death of the shooter.

We have years until the next election. There is more than enough time to get them their IDs if people are willing.

That isn't what the GOP is hoping. They merely want to prevent cheating.

Requiring a valid ID is not taking away the right to vote.

Hard to say it is a non-existing problem when the Democrats fight all efforts to get a handle on it.

And speaking as a Michigan voter, I can point out that there is only one major party that deliberately disenfranchises people, and it isn't the Republicans.

Sound like the fear of people that the government is going to take away their rights to have the tools of self defense while not interfering in any real ways for the bad guys being arm to the teeth.

Those people are women and old people not mad killers or even gun nuts.

My my a few weapons over years used by mass killers out of up to 10 millions such weapons existing in the public!!!!!!!!!

Kind of like stating that as a few people had used cars to run over and killed people therefore all 200 millions cars should be removed from society.
