A blonde walks into a shoe store to try on a pair of shoes. After trying on a pair she complained that they were a bit tight. “Try pulling the tongue out,” suggests the sales clerk.

“Nath theyth sthill feelth a bith tighth,” responds the blonde

@sozobe,
I see.
Before today, the idea of insulting shoes
was 1OO% alien to my cognition.

I wonder Y women seem to be so intensely interested in shoes ?

@sozobe,
Simply amazing that you found shoes in your size? (implying large feet - like gunboats).

@OmSigDAVID,
David: it's about fashion. Especially true with some young pretty women. Insults about a lack of fashion sense is like inflicting a mortal wound.

I see. OK.

Judging from the news media,
I get the impression that women n girls
are disproportionately interested in shoes,
as distinct from other items of apparel, e.g. maybe hats ?

@OmSigDAVID,
Now you're getting it. However, I'm weary to say that it's the majority.

I've known some women who have, let's just say, 20-25 pairs of shoes (sneakers not part this) in their closets(s). When asked how many pairs they acutally wear in a month or even any particular season. They've told me they actually wear 10 pair.

@OmSigDAVID,
my wife is a middie fashionista. She does preppie like a pro. I have several pairs of shoes that are all the same (not including boots ).
I have 4 paur of Doc Martin loafers.
I never worry about fashion statements( Some people are afraid of Doc Martin wearersand I have no idea why)

@Ragman,
Doc Martens, man!

http://thesmartly.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/09/1460-dr-martens-1.jpg

I had some in high school/ college. Then they went out. Now they're back in again.

In my time (late 80's/ early 90's) they were favored by skinheads (boo), baldies (yay) and punks (usually yay).

E.G. has had some throughout, doesn't wear 'em much anymore though.

I like that farmerman wears them.

@sozobe,
no, the low lace loafer Doc MARTINs, I wear Timberlands and Bean boots cause the Beans are light and the Timbers are tough .

My wife wears a bunch of UGGs and she loves em. She will wear heels only special occasions (I have a black tie thing once a year and she will be a real cougar hottie who can easily block anyone who is trying to bore the **** out of me, its somethin only hottie women can do and get away with)

Those are the selfsame Docs. Just not the hightop boot. I had that kind in dark brown, bought 'em in London, LOVED them.
