That would certainly be one more confirmation that he is a liar.

But regarding his answer, it remains to be seen whether he is pissed out of his gourd, stoned or senile.

@JTT,
JTT wrote:
You cling to the US government produced meme that dropping the A-bombs on two full of innocents was a necessity. The only necessity was covering their war criminal asses.

Both A-bombs were dropped on military targets.

Hiroshima was a huge military center filled with tens of thousands of Japanese soldiers.

Nagasaki was an industrial center containing huge weapons factories.

I actually do not address the question of necessity, as I do not see the relevance of the question.

The fact is, Japan refused to surrender, so we nuked them until they surrendered. Once they surrendered we stopped nuking them.

There is no need to complicate it.

By saying "Yes" I have agreed with your assertion:
" Aren't you part of that . . ."

Aren't means: are u NOT.
That is TRUE: I am NOT. Therefore, I affirm and agree with your assertion,
by saying "Yes", as I have done, and go on to explain
that: "I am NOT."

That is very simple & ez to understand.

At the time there was little sympathy for the Japanese army or civilians.
Hiroshima was deemed a significant military target.
from Wiki:
Quote:
At the time of its bombing, Hiroshima was a city of both industrial and military significance. A number of military camps were located nearby, including the headquarters of Field Marshal Shunroku Hata's 2nd General Army Headquarters, which commanded the defense of all of southern Japan.[55] His command consisted of some 400,000 men, most of whom were on Kyushu where an Allied invasion was correctly expected.[56] Also present in Hiroshima was the headquarters of the Fifty-Ninth Army, and most of the 224th Division, a recently formed mobile unit.[57] The city's air defenses comprised five batteries of 7-centimetre (2.8 in) and 8-centimetre (3.1 in) anti-aircraft guns.[58]

Hiroshima was a minor supply and logistics base for the Japanese military. The city was a communications center, a storage point, and an assembly area for troops. It was one of several Japanese cities left deliberately untouched by American bombing, allowing a pristine environment to measure the damage caused by the atomic bomb.[59]

@izzythepush,
Izzy, will u reveal your opinion
of America nuking the Japs ?

( As an off-topic aside, maybe about 3 or 4 years ago,
I was very, very honored to meet Major Dutch Van Kirk,
the Navigator aboard the Enola Gay! I warmly shook his hand
and expressed my gratitude. Huge numbers of Mensans lined up
to address him with their thanx, seriatim for saving the lives
of their fathers or husbands by obviating an infantry invasion
and thanking him for the existence of their children & grandchildren,
some of whom were exhibited for him. It has been extimated that
he saved about 1,OOO,OOO American lives and innumerable progeny thereof.)

My memory from history class is that this was because factions of the Japs refused to comply with the capitulation. This would be a sound basis for continuation of hostilities on our part. I am not discounting the possibility that I was lied to about what happened.

Thank u.
I was not aware of that figure.

After the war, some of them said that we treated them better
than their army had. Note that we treated them better than
the Rape of Nanking of 1937. We might well have been nicer
than the Bataan Death March.

I wonder how that woud have compared to a Chinese army of occupation ?

It is a fabulous tale to claim that the Americans were bad guys in the story of WW2.....but I am willing to listen to any such claim which come supported with evidence.

That's good, Hawk, you're learning. The fact that you have been lied to innumerable times by the US government means that you have to keep an open mind.

If you are truly interested, why don't you start a thread?
