Why do many cartoonists find it "necessary" to give cartoon characters love interests?

@izzythepush,
The skunk was harassing the cat and was too blind to realize that his body odor was what was repelling the cat.

The cat didn't want anything to do with him anyway.

I think there was one cartoon when Pepe gets rid of his odor to please the cat and then the cat did the opposite and his idea backfired. I don't recall why the cat decided to make herself stink.

I do recall one cartoon in which the cat fell in a vat of water and was chasing the skunk at the end.

If a woman doesn't want someone what message is that sending to kids?

@JGoldman10,
Pepe was a rapist. Daffy and Bugs both dressed in drag to seduce other men. Disney hides cockporn in just about every damn thing they put out. In Japan, if something has tentacles they're going into a body cavity somewhere. Bottom line, cartoons are full of innuendo and out-right sex.

Welcome to your career path.

@Questioner,
I was an animation student a little over a decade ago - it is not necessary for you to tell me that.

I am not putting sexual material in my comics.

@JGoldman10,
May not be necessary, but I enjoyed it.

So, you've been out of 'animation college' for over 10 years and still haven't done a damn thing? Speaks volumes, really.

And aren't I on ignore?

@JGoldman10,
If you don't want to use sex to sell your comics what about pies? Plenty of pictures of pies, collect tokens to get your own pie, pie of the week, that sort of thing.

@JGoldman10,
Earlier you were talking about kissing and that was gross... Why JG? It is not sex, it's foreplay there is no sin committed.

Have you ever googled ( I know you love googling), Sprituality & Religion as one?

Christians are okay with someone believing in God, but being also very spiritual and that includes medication, I mean meditation. So "white" witch is allowed .

Case closed on my witchynnnnesss

You can talk to me know it says so, have a read

Pepe Le Pew was a stalker and a flirt.

Woody Woodpecker dressed in drag:

and he flirted with women:

There was another cartoon in which he was dreaming he was kissing a woman's arm and in another he had women flocking around him.

In the Disney classic The Three Caballeros Donald Duck and his Latin bird friends went down to Latin American beaches to flirt with women:

What is the point of all this?

They have been stuff like that in cartoons and in comics since they came out.

They are old HOLLYWOOD cartoons that we are talking about. That is the way HOLLYWOOD thinks.

TV cartoons is another story.

People have tried to use sex to sell comics. I am NOT going to do that because I am a Christian and I know better. I don't want God to hold me accountable for doing the wrong thing.

@JGoldman10,
The message that Pepe LePew and the cat (or any cartoon ) tells is that it's a cartoon - not real life. A child of 8 yrs of age can can distinguish the difference between a cartoon and real life. If not, that is what parents are there for.

In case you are unattuned to the rest of the world about normal child and adult behavior, flirting is parting of every day life. Leave out flirting in a comic as well as attraction and you're not going to have a single reader..not a one..not a child or teenager nor adult. You'll continue to write your comic for yourself and your mom - a very expensive hobby or propaganda tool.

@Ragman,
True, but is that appropriate subject matter to show a kid? They used to run Pepe Le Pew cartoons all the time with other Looney Tunes cartoons on TV. Kids do not always know what is going on on TV - they laugh and think it's funny because they they think they are supposed to. Some parents don't even pay attention- they see "Looney Tunes" and think it's okay.That is why parents should monitor what their kids watch on TV.

@eurocelticyankee,
NO ONE asked you, TROLL, what you thought or asked you to respond. I was illustrating a point.

It is OBVIOUS that a lot of the old Hollywood cartoons were trying to use ADULT HUMOR in what are supposed to be kids'/all-age cartoons.

@JGoldman10,
Unless you lock your kids in the cellar or something their going to see things that are probably inappropriate one way or the other. There's just to much going on in the world today to completely shield them from it. Believe me looney tunes cartoons are the least of the problems. Get real!. It's all about guiding your kids and teaching them values and morals. Incidentally I don't need no crazy religion to help me do that. Grow up man.

Flirting is NOT WHAT CHRISTIANS are supposed to do. That is the POINT I am trying to imbue into you.

My comics are GOING TO REFLECT CHRISTIAN VALUES.

I don't have any children- if I DID I would RAISE THEM IN THE FEAR AND ADMONITION OF THE LORD.FEARING GOD AND THE BIBLE IS WHAT IS GOING TO SET THE MORAL STANDARDS IN MY FAMILY.
