@Cycloptichorn,
I believe the point Irish was making was not the confrontation, but making a clown of oneself before confronting the creep.

@Fido,
Endless sets of small points separated by ellipses do not a coherent argument or proposal make. I'm simply asking you to organize your thoughts in a matter which could actually lead to productive discussion.

They are clearly about democracy... They are not organizing or playing politics with agenda's and elections... They are simply a bunch of people who recognize that they are being harmed by the economy which should support us all, and that we are reduced to supporting directly with the government which will then expect to collect it from us.. The well is dry, and not all the salt in the ocean will make it run fresh water again...

Nothing wrong with simply being voices of protest. I would suggest that people are going to grow tired of protest without action, but if protest is the limit of their vision, that's fine.

If that is the case though I have to wonder on what basis you and other OWS fans believe this will be a transformative movement?

Are you expecting something like the response a 2 year old gets from their parents when they stand in the middle of a department store and scream bloody murder?

What does the OWSters want to happen as a result of these demonstrations?

What needs to happen before they will believe Wall Street was properly held responsible?
Wall street is just a symbol... If they happen to find the enemy the will find it is us... We have all bought into the system in some fashion or another, and no matter what is promised, if Wall Street goes, most people will hurt a long time before thing get sorted out in their favor...Part of the problem is how interlocked all the facets of this society's economy, and the world economy are... We may be seeing the beginning of WWIII, because capitalism the world over is supported by credit, and because no one can afford to support themselves on wages alone... Credit is just life support for capitalism... The government should have let the banks die, because it could have been our bank... Instead, they borrow from the rich to support the rich and expect to collect it from the poor who are themselves living on credit.... It is madness... Total insanity, but it will have to fall on its own because no one has the courage to kill it, and then face the backlash from a population fearful of the future without exploitation...

Once again, fine revolutionary rhetoric from fido.

In other words...the whole system has to be torn down and rebuilt.

You were reporting a doubling of drug sales due to #occupy - I know you'd never make a spurious claim without evidence. And I couldn't see the standard 'Statement not intended to be factual' disclaimer....

No I wouldn't, but I have been known to crack wise from time to time.

If you thought my comment was an assertion of fact, you were (as I suspect you fully realize) mistaken.

@Finn dAbuzz,
Cool - like you say - you only go for the funny on rare occasions - sad to have missed it for what it was - an interesting glimpse of how your mind works.

I've got a funny for you! (hope this link works....)

Anonymous Threatens Fox News Over Occupy Wall Street
(Greg Tito | Escapist Magazine | 26 Oct 2011)

Anonymous has thrown its weight behind virtually every cause the last few years. They have attacked Scientology for its so-called evil practices, they brought down major banks' website in support of Julian Assange's Wikileaks, and they even went after Gene Simmons when he openly taunted them. Now, the group has released a video with a mechanized voice of a woman stating that they are in support of the ongoing protests in New York City and around the world. Anonymous believes that the pundits on Fox News have too often used libelous descriptions of the protesters to invalidate the protests, and the only recourse is to shut down the network's website. The attack is called "Operation: Fox Hunt."

"Fox is now the target of Anonymous because of their continued propaganda against the Occupations," the woman's voice says. "They use words such as filthy, disgusting and dirty to describe the protesters. Since they will not stop belittling the occupiers, we will simply shut them down."

The date chosen for this attack? November 5th, also known as Guy Fawkes Day. Fawkes tried to blow up the Parliament building in 1605 to place a Catholic monarch on the Throne of England, and his likeness was popularized by the film adaptation of Frank Miller's V for Vendetta. Anonymous adopted use of the Guy Fawkes mask to hide the identities of members when gathering in public - even though the proceeds from mask sales makes it way back to Hollywood, but that's besides the point - and Fawkes has become a kind of de facto symbol for the group.

"Anonymous will not only shut down Fox News," said Anonymous. "We will also engage in a propaganda campaign of our own, to show them how it feels to be chastised."

The hackers of Anonymous have succeeded in taking down websites periodically before, so it is possible that the Operation Fox Hunt may work ... at least until someone switches on a new server to deal with DDos attack.

And I would have some suggestions to make about later, but until later gets here every plan put forward for later is a call for abuse and attack... People do not want to give up the devil the know for the devil they do not know... Jefferson recognized that fact in the Declaration... The **** of the opposition, the counter revolution, the spin, the insinuation and lies of the old order are ready to throw at any organized effort to change the society...

Don't organize... Act as an individual to resist the government, economy, and the churches... Protests mean something to those who count numbers, and the rich don't care about number they can so easily confuse and refuse... I would trade all those protestors for a few willing to slow drive on a super highway at rush hour... When they become an impedement in this society they are working for the next soceity...

The city of Oakland has reversed it's official position, and is now allowing people to stay and protest with minimal police presence.

http://thinkprogress.org/special/2011/10/27/355003/jean-quan-minimize-police-statement/

Tell me again that the protestors aren't winning the fight against the thugs who would beat them down. A variety of lawyers are lining up to sue the **** out of the city for excessive use of force, and I dearly hope they win.

Me too; to demonstrate peacefully is a constitutionally protected right. The police state belongs in other undeveloped countries - not the US>.

@RABEL222,
To make the rich more rich, and transfer our growing debt to our children who are unable to find jobs. There's a crash in our future.
