Is dating someone who's a different race okay?

I'm feeling lazy and don't want to read through 12 pages of comments to answer the following question, but I'm curious.

Did anyone respond in the negative to Gracie's question?

Note: I mean did anyone respond that it's not OK to date someone of a different race as opposed to simply being negative in their response.

In no way can I read minds, and what I am about to say does not pertain to the thoughts of the people in the original posting. Be that said, I believe, many parents would like to believe that eventual grandchildren are as much like them as possible. That includes race, ethnicity, religion, socio-economic class (unless the child "marries up", perhaps).

So, I personally would want a child to marry within the same religion, race, ethnicity, social class.

And, since much of the country still harbors covert racial beliefs, in my opinion, after dating a Black guy, or some other group that has been the recipient of much prejudice, there are some guys that would then not seriously date that girl, since his family might feel less positive feelings towards her. Meaning, he could not, in good conscience towards his family, get serious with a girl he liked, but had a prior history that included guys the family had a bias towards.

Plus, as my own mother once told me as a teenager, if one marries inter-racially, the children of that marriage might have a harder time socially, since there are people of both races that would not consider the children authentically from one race or the other. In other words, children of mixed race marriages, at this point in time, are proverbial "pioneers" in the race relations frontier, and we all know that being a pioneer can be a life of some hardships.

@Finn dAbuzz,
I didn't see anyone say that, no.

There was some expression of concern that it might be more difficult for the mixed-race pair. But nobody said it was not OK, that I remember.

edit: ah, thanks George.

@GracieGirl,
Ageism? Well you are damn right as you are not allow to sign contracts, drink, go anywhere without your father permission and on and on.

You are a child and as such you are under the protection of both the society and your father.

This is a adult website where adult subjects are discuss in a very frank and very open manner that at least in my opinion no person at the age of 13 have any business being.

This is for similar reasons that the society does not allow you to go and view an X rated movie and demand that you father is along with you in order for you to view an R rated movie.

Yes I know that at the age of 13 you would not agree with that as I would not and in fact did not agree at the age of 13 years old myself that such restriction are either call for or needed.

@BillRM,
According to the Terms of Service, "You must be thirteen (13) years or
older to use the service according to U.S. law." That's section I,
paragraph E.

So this is something you should be discussing with those who maintain the
able2know website.

First George she is claiming to be 13 and this TOS is due I believe to FTC regulations dealing with not collecting information concerning under 13 years old children.

Still there is something very troublesome having such very young teens on this very adult website that deal with such very adult matters.

Of course shielding children given how the internet work is one hell of a task.

I had teased my one son-in-law, an IT person, who claimed he is able to filter the internet for his children and my step grandkids as I told him good luck in doing so as I can just see them getting their hands on such tools a a live linux boot disks to get around his filtering software.

@BillRM,
Bill, you are the only one bringing an X-rated movie in here.

why don't you go off by yourself with it and give us some peace...

please.

Would you care for me to give you a list of the current running threads that deal with very adult subjects currently on this website?

This is not a g-rated safe website for young teens.

@BillRM,
I think you should do the adult thing, then, and take it up with Robert.

I'm certain that he will enjoy hearing from you...

@Rockhead,
I think that if BillRM looks around, he will notice that a huge number of regular posters find Gracie a breath of fresh air, both bright and fun.

I figure that Bill doesn't know that Craven/Robert was very young when he was starting websites, although older than thirteen.

The onus is on Bill and others to act appropriately on this site themselves.

You mean this website should go from an adult subjects website to a G-rated website or at "worst" a PG-13 website?

That no subject thread that you would not care for a thirteen years old to read about and take part in should any long be cover on this website?

@ossobuco,
The problem is, BillRM is the one who doesn't know how to act in an appropriate adult manner. And GracieGirl did a fine job of calling him on the carpet for the way he's been acting.

GracieGirl shows far greater social maturity, and much better social skills, in her interactions with other posters than BillRM does, not to mention that her posts are better thought out, and considerably more coherent, and expressed in much better English than his are. And she certainly shows much better comprehension of what other posters are saying than he does--nothing seems to sink in, or register, or even penetrate, with him.

The irony is that he questions whether she is too young to be at this site when, in fact, he is the one displaying the questionable and somewhat inappropriate behaviors and behaving in less than a mature, adult manner. Her influence at A2K has been positive in terms of stimulating discussions, while his tends to be disruptive, provoking needless unpleasantness and derailing threads. If he was smart, or had any sense, he'd try learning a thing or two from her.

@BillRM,
No. I mean do not swarm this relatively new poster with your views. That is a kind of battering/battery. Us old hands can deal with all that. Gracie, both new and young, is being extensively courteous. But, hey, now she has already caught on.

Not only all that, but if she found herself in a hole, she's probably smart enough to quit digging.

@firefly,
It is interesting Firefly to find that you have no problem moral or otherwise with interacting with a young child as if she was an adult and hopefully you are not a teacher or it is likely we will be hearing about you being taken away in the same kind of handcuffs that one of your anti rape posters contain. Where do u get THAT, Bill????
Please explain to me what outranks the Supreme Law of the Land???
(The US Constitution including its Bill of Rights is the Supreme Law of the Land.)

What is the legal authority for that??
I do not see that it exists.

As a lawyer you of all people should know that fact.
I deny your legal conclusion.
If a parent commands his kid to DO something
and the kid ignores the parent, he does not thereby violate any law.
In other words, the kid is not exposed to civil nor to criminal litigation as a result.

If u have reached a contrary conclusion,
then please cite us to the legal authority for it.
