Say, George, what's your projection for the scenario that Republicans nominate one of their right-wingers, and that American voters elect him or her over Obama? If you don't like my projection, there's no point whining about it. Just make your own projection!
I wasn't whining at all - merely pointing out the emptiness of your projections.
Much of this thread is however about whining from your side.
I don't think that such projections are particularly useful. Moreover, as long as it appears he can beat Obama, I prefer a Romney candidacy for the Republicans (though if forced to choose I would welcome Perry over Obama).
Apart from Perry, I don't think that any of the "right wingers" I assume you have in mind, has a realistic chance of winning the nomination. I don't yet know enough about him to have any fixed conclusions. I know his swagger seriously puts off progressive liberals who prefer their saints to have a different mein, however, I don't count that as a defect as long as the individual demonstrates a reflective temperment and a willingness to tolerate disagreement. Some questions remain about Perry in these areas.
I am also much more confident of the skills and determination of any Democrat opposition in the Congress than apparently are you, and I believe their long history in this role supports my view and not yours.
