@Setanta,
Msolga is one of the more productive and non-partisan members of this fine board, Set.

Standing up for her own rights is geo-politically correct, as well as personally correct.

I applaud her stance against what has become a tag-team effort to quiet her accurate assessments and pertinent points.

For mine, the real horror of Sept. 11th, 2001, is that people still actually believe the "official" account, simply because nothing could be further from the truth.

But, some would rather beat the drum of patriotism, rather than realise they've been summarily bent over a barrel, and reamed up the cornhole.

I think it's all about 'comeuppance'. I think that's why the deed was done in the first place by al qaeda - to give America a taste of comeuppance,-and I think that's why a lot of people from other countries can't find it in their hearts to give too much of a **** about it to sympathize with or revere its victims - they enjoy- maybe that's too strong a word, but don't really mind- seeing America and Americans getting hit with a bit of comeuppance.

I don't know - I'm not politically conservative, necessarily at all, nevermind totally - but I don't feel any sense of 'yeah we deserved this' or 'this is an appropriate response to any action our government has taken against another country in the past.'

There are many ways in which I wish America and Americans were different, but I don't think this act, which I think was a direct response and message to us about how our way of life -'godless', I think it was called at the time -was received with displeasure by these people- was at all a productive way to address the problem.

I think it was a tragedy. And I grieve for and along with the people who were affected by it, no more and no less than I grieve anyone else who is an innocent victim of a regime or collateral damage in a governmental dispute.

Me, I hate it when any innocent people die. It's not a reflex for me to say, 'Oh, but they sort of deserved it' because of what their government was involved in. I don't try to find an explanation or excuse for pure evil.

And I think it's human nature for people to be more strongly affected by their own tragedies than those that affect others. So yeah - Americans will grieve this more strongly. And remember it longer. What's wrong with or strange about that?

It's like when my father died, I was more upset than when any of my friend's fathers died. But did I go around saying, 'Well my father died too' when their fathers died? Hell, no - I remembered how badly I felt when my father died and I said, 'I know this must be very difficult for you - I am so, so sorry for your loss.'

@Builder,
Which has what to do with the obvious fact that it's devolved into trollish attacks, which she would do well to ignore? She's addressed what little of substance (so to speak) which these clowns have alleged against her.

Oh . . . yeah . . . right . . . you want to beat your "geo-politically correct" drum . . . well, have at it, don't mind me.

I honestly can't see why I'm bothering to respond at all, George,

Me neither. Frankly, you're wasting your time. And everybody else's. You might as well post to the "Do I have the power to end this thread?" thread.

Obfuscation mean anything to you, Set?

Why should she? These "trolls" you speak of are regular board members, are they not?

Apparently, you don't know what obfuscation means. However, i've already learned that you'll take any opportunity to take a cheap shot, and make a vicious remark about me, so don't expect to keep your typical, stupid slanging match going.

I agree, Thomas, she should just ignore the bullshit.

@Setanta,
Last-Word-Set?

This from the bloke who wanted to hold me down and fart on my head?

You're a classic, buddy. How you found vitriol in my last post is beyond comprehension.

As for obfuscation, we both know what is going on here, so play that card all you like. Hopefully you'll convince yourself.

@Thomas,
Well, of course, no one has to waste their time reading what's been posted here, Thomas.

But, on reflection, I think you & Setanta might well be right.
It is a waste of time if what I post is simply eliciting more trollish responses.

However, it poses the question (to me, anyway): how does one respond to sustained trollish character attacks on an unmoderated site like this one?

No, don't bother answering that.
I know what you'll say already.
Use the "ignore" button.

@msolga,
There's hope for you yet, MsOlga. While georgeob1 does indeed seem to be turning into a schoolyard bully, and while this development is indeed sad to watch, A2K is not a schoolyard. It's cyberspace. People can't get to you here unless you choose to let them.

@msolga,
Thomas' point is well taken. For your own peace of mind, you might just say to yourself: "Well, i've answered their accusations, so i don't need to do it again and again and again . . . think i'll go wash my hair."

@Thomas,
Well, I don't exactly feel like I've been "gotten", Thomas.
But I must admit it's feeling kinda counter-productive & certainly a waste of my time, too.. Wink

But anyways ....

@msolga,
The best revenge is to live happily.

You could always point the bone at them too.

@dlowan,
The sad thing, Deb, is that I don't particularly want to point the bone at anyone.
I'm more disappointed than anything else ...

But happy?
Yeah, I'm pretty happy.
You could say that. Smile
