@margo,
Thank you.

At this point I'm trying not to go nuts waiting to hear the final story from the vet.

@dlowan,
When do you anticipate that will be, Deb?

Just rang to schedule it!

Vet has asked for me to wait until next Monday, so that the blood results are back, and she has time to thoroughly look at all the tests they did the other day.

To be honest, it's very hard waiting all that time, but it's better to have as much information as possible when I do get it. Sigh.

I was starting to see Viola as being unusually quiet...but then she exploded into action. All poohs since I picked her up Friday night have been normal...so either she's over the diarrhoea, or she's stopped poohing altogether. I don't think she could have as I have the normal amount of cleaning up to do.

So...in a week I guess I hear how bad it is.

I suspect the prognosis will be unpredictable.

I have informed breeder who has not responded in any way.

Once I have a diagnosis and an opinion on whether there could be a genetic component, I will want her to convince me that she uis having her breeding cats checked by a specialist vet if there is a chance it could be genetic.

If I don't get that, I will let the registration board know

Yes. Of course it is.
A whole week of waiting & worrying. Poor you.
Sigh.

Indeed.
Even though you suspect an "unpredictable" prognosis, Deb, I am hoping for much more positive news.
Fingers tightly crossed!

@msolga,
If I could work with everything crossed, it'd BE crossed.

Sadly I can't. Thank you for doing it for me.

NOT impressed with breeder's lack of response. She probably thinks I'm going to demand my money back or some dumb thing.

@dlowan,
I'm sure I'll have cramps by Monday, Deb. Smile Wink

What?
No response at all from the breeder?
I am much more than unimpressed!

@dlowan,
On the occasions when I visit A2K this is the first thread I look for because it always makes me smile ... or laugh. So not smiling.

Positive thinking! I'll be keeping good thoughts.

She's lucky she has you as her mom.

NEXT Monday? Man!

(Shaking head about the lack of a health guarantee provided by the breeder.)

@mckenzie,
Thank you.

I made her get a vet check and give me the certificate thereof.....my vet obviously thought it was not a good check...but she is the only one out of three vets at her practice who picked the murmur up, so I can't really blame vet or breeder, unless I have proof the breeder knew there were problems.

So far, Australian Cornish Rexes have not suffered from this problem, though US ones are known to need checking for it.

I think cat breeders generally operate with tiny profit margins, and Viola is over a year old, so I don't know about a guarantee even if one had been offered. She was clearly born with it, though. Sigh.

I did note that one poor owner lost two kittens to the disease....so I am wondering if Australia needs to be checking far more for the problem in Cornish rexes. There has been quite a lot of importation of cats from other countries. I will be letting the governing body know about it.

@dlowan,
The condemned Viola is running round like a lunatic with Sebastian.

She just embarrassed herself by making a flying leap onto the top of a bookcase, falling short, dangling by her claws for a moment and falling ignominiously to the floor.

Then I think they both ran into the vacuum cleaner.

I think Viola just ran across the bed....but she was traveling too fast to identify positively.

Maybe she didn't get the in-joke at the opening of your letter: "Hello, I wish to make a complaint about this cat that I purchased not a year ago in this verra boutique." You've got to be more careful with that line.

Grrrrrrrrrrrr........

I sent a lovely email!

I figured out why Viola fell...and I moved the thing that got in her way. She's in Sebastian's man cave as I type.

@dlowan,
Oh...for anyone following the dramas of the strata fees from hell and my need to move.

I finally found a place I liked on the weekend....but it was already under contract. Grrrrrrrrrrrr....

Meanwhile, if anyone recalls the other drama...that of the woman suing us (and, presumably, herself, since she is one of us) because she says her apartment is over-valued and hence her fees are too high?

We all received notice of a meeting to be held to discuss the results of a new a valuation. It's dynamite! It changes the numbers for a group of the apartments very significantly.....some by more than 25%, up and down.

The woman's place has been de-valued by more than than twenty-five percent....which certainly vindicates her if you believe the valuation.

Mine has gone up by one percent.

If we go with this valuation, I assume that a bunch of people get repaid a significant sum, and others have to come up with an equally significant sum! I'm not really happy if I have to come up with one percent of the thousands I have paid over the years...but imagine having to come up with more than a quarter of what you have paid!!!

This meeting is going to be something.

Imagine being a new buyer and walking into having to come up with a huge stash of money you had nothing to do with?

@dlowan,
They can do that to a new buyer? Around here, that better be listed in the disclosures section.
