@sozobe,
Purring kittens? PURRING??!!!!

Bloody Sebastian has been carrying on like a pork chop ever since I got up again, hours ago. Nothing is safe from that woolly! At present he is harassing my pot of lavender. Viola is persistently trying to kill herself by defying my instructions not to chew the power cord for the music. Now she has moved to the speaker wire and Sebastian just fell off a shelf in the bookcase while stalking the CD player.

Now Viola is behind the computer screen and Sebastian is seeking trouble by chasing her there. Now he is waiting to attack the computer screen. No, he is fighting with Viola...he attacks her every time she looks out...no, he is trying to drink my wine...no, he is attacking pieces of important paper on the computer desk...no, he is eating an apple stalk.....back at the wine....now looking for trouble on the study coffee table.

@dlowan,
No wine on the keyboard yet?

Gah, the energy!

Do they purr ever though? Like when they're all tuckered out from zooming around like little maniacs for hours and hours?

Understood about the persistent pain. Sucky though.

@sozobe,
Oh my yes, they purr.

Viola's is a delight...quite loud and a lovely soprano, with good bass notes.

Sebastian's is a low and lovely thrum.

Man...he just shat again....sigh.

Viola is less manic....she just has the odd bout of madness...Sebastian is like an ADHD kid...just goes and goes.

@dlowan,
You may want to consider letting her chew on the speaker wire. If you hear loud(ish) music, the current should be just high enough to be painful, yet low enough to not actually harm her. As we say in Germany: Wer nicht hören will, muß fühlen.

@dlowan,
If you believe in a more discursive approach to teaching kids, by all means continue explaining to her that chewing on wires is a bad idea.

Ah. Well, if it's getting too much for you . . . Sozobe sounds as if she would appreciate a kitten in her arm.

@mags314772,
Walter the Farting Dog is a series of children's books by William Kotzwinkle and Glenn Murray, and illustrated by Audrey Colman. All the books in the series star Walter and his many flatulent adventures. In 2007 the fifth book in the series, Walter the Farting Dog: Banned From the Beach, was released. Beginning with the third title, Rough Weather Ahead for Walter the Farting Dog, Elizabeth Gundy (wife of Kotzwinkle) has appeared as a co-author, but in fact had participated on the prior two uncredited. Two plush toy versions of Walter that fart when squeezed, are marketed along with the books by MerryMakers Inc. The original Walter story is now available in more than a dozen languages, including French[1], Spanish[2], Dutch[3], Icelandic[4], Norwegian[5], Korean[citation needed], Japanese[6], and Latin[7].

@mags314772,
I'm in bed, trying to read, with Viola perched on my shoulder, purring wildly.

Her wool is so much nicer now. It seems shorter, is curly instead of wild, and has a sort of pearly sheen.

She's off....she hasn't embraced the tunnel....is curious but does not hurl herself into it madly as Sebastian does.

Now Sebastian, as is typical, plinks himself on my chest so that I can't do a thing.

@dlowan,
OK, Sebastian just jumped into the filling bath and stayed there, paws in the rising water, for some time.

He's still atremble on the rim of the bath.

Maybe he really will be a water cat?
