all right, I give up. What is a spag bog? Is it edible? Would one WANT to eat something called a spag bog?
Heh heh.....when I was little australian food was a nightmare.....English cooking, only with more meat and fresher veggies and lots of fruit.
With the waves of post war immigration things began to change, as Australians slowly sniffed the weird food eaten by New Australians. At first to scoff and denigrate.....GARLIC and OIL....they use garlic and oil my dear! Barbaric!
Then to try a little of....
One of the breakthrough dishes was spaghetti bolognaise.....the beloved spag bog.
In my home, we could only sample these wildly experimental dishes when my father was away on business....mornay was an experimental dish, god help us!
Gradually Italian and Greek food became staples, then lebanese, then Chinese and then the glories of Thai and Asian generally and Indian.
How we survived on meat and three veg I shall never know.
