Husker... that itty bitty crack? Bummer, it's even copper tubing. <sigh> Is it all fixed now?

Ceili - I've been studying the weather underground for Edmonton and comparing it to Seattle. You are getting screwed! Those are cold temperatures! Even your high temps in the summer don't quite meet the miserly "highs" <snort> of Seattle. The good thing for you was precipitation. While you're getting an inch each month for November through February (it said) we can get 5 and 6 inches each of those months. I'd like to see Edmonton sometime, but not in the winter!

Sorry you fell D'a. I haven't yet (knock on Wood) but I walk very gingerly. I have managed to step directly into one of those cold wet puddles that comes up over the top of the boot!

Been away for a while, but wanted to stop in and taunt you folks I left back in the NW! Ha! Ha ha! Earlier my Seattle neighborhood flooded, now you're all iced in... first time in my life I've moved away from the bad weather and not into it. (My first Chicago snow is still their deepest on record.)

Cold and beautiful here. Nothing melts; just stays pristine. Nothing I hate more than mud and drizzle...

Piffka, I've railed against the gods, to no avail. They have foresaken us it seems. Blustering about in the heavens, showering us with unkind wheather, yes, the winter sucks. It is quite pretty summer and fall.
Last night, I stepped out into the yard. The moon shadow was an enormous, multi-layered halo caused by frozen ice crystals in the air. The northern lights, not to be outdone, danced for a while, or at least as long as I could handle standing in the freezing night.
Our warm periods especially the month of august are beautiful, but regardless of the weather, the sky is always breath taking.

Every rose has a thorn...

well it's worse that expected - fixed the crack in the pictures - then turned on the water - still have a gushing problem. so ran out an bought some shut off values and went to the unfinished part of the basement wheRE I could get to the pipes, and place the shut offs there - so all I'm missing in the whole hose is laundry. It's just going to cost thousands to rip out the wall and floor in the laundry - also time to get the home owners insureance involved - but right off I have to rest - I'm so tired and stressed - I'm pressed to type this - night!

Ceili -- Ooooh, the northern lights. We see them here sometimes, but it has always been faint and not very special. Did you know that there is a site on the 'net that predicts when the best auroras will be? I was snooping around last week and found it... it has maps and everything. So every rose does have a thorn... at least the best-smelling ones. When would be the best time to visit Edmonton so that one could see northern lights and be as warm as possible?

Husker -- I'm really sorry to hear about your pipe problems. I just heard from my sister than one of her friends, recently widowed, had a similar problem and had to crawl under her house in the middle of the night to shut off so stupid valve. She was soaked and nearly frozen -- this is in Ellensburg. Sheesh. Again, somebody didn't quite build it properly. I hope it is not as expensive as you think. Fingers crossed.

Patiodog! Should I send you some mud?

What a mess, Husker! Going to have to find a way to get a little heat under there when you are putting it all back together. In your wife's defense, no one sent to shut off a valve ever shuts off the correct valve.
Laughing

Crispy cold (21F) in the Big Apple this morning. Clear skies at night for the moon watchers. Just enough wind to cut your cheeks when you walk to the corner for coffee. Going to warm up to freezing by Monday.

Joe

No, thankee. Our yard's got no grass, so we'll have plenty of that come April.

We've had some cool nights- Went down to the high 40's a couple of nights ago. It is 64 now, and will be scratching 70 by this afternoon. Can't complain at all, although I do resent wearing a jacket. You get so spoiled wearing light clothing most of the year!

Dear Joe... I love this quote and will be sharing it with Mr.P. Too funny.
(Sorry Husker, but it sure rings true! Best wishes to Mr.Husker.)

BPB -- YOU've got snow? Arggghhh, it's catching! How much? How cold?

Patiodog -- Are you sure??? Nice cold wet mud, possibly mixed with some horse pucky? And you a would-be vet! ...hurumph....

Phoenix, I'm so sorry. Darn it, a light jacket? Heavy cotton... possibly mixed with ramie? Are you wearing socks, too? Sheesh, what a sad, sad, sad state! Very Happy

Okay, for all those who want to know... we STILL have some stupid old snow on the ground, especially in the pasture. It is not gray though (or yellow) though the bird feeders have a lot of sunflower shells below them. Mostly it is pock-marked from footprints. There is a small frozen lake in the pasture that everyone (dogs, horse, humans) skirts around. It's been above freezing for three days (40F) but the ground is still sort of hard & frozen with a soft layer of muddy mush below two or three inches of slushy snow. Is this what you snow climate people normally deal with? How???

I think it is really icky and I can't wait to go to Mexico. SIX WEEKS!!

Yeah, I've heard that term recently. It sounds like the weather we had about five days ago. It looks pretty for the first 10-12 hours....

I hope you've got a good snow car. My advice: a pile of DVD's and a case of soup.
