@izzythepush,
Abortion was the first major foray into politics by the religious right it was an attempt to force their religious fairy tales on the rest of the country. Their argument was that the soul entered the body at conception. There is no soul or any proof that any ever existed it is simply a religious superstition. The religious right was able to use the power of government to impose their religious values on many people in some states. The concept that you should be able to make decisions for yourself is against everything religion stands for if they can't control you, they will make sure government does.
Abortion was the religious right's foot in the government power door. Abortion is the first step toward religious control of America. Afterall if they can imagine soul and use the government to enforce their imagination what will they imagine next? That the bible never mandated that women could drive so therefore women should not be able to drive. Let's face it there is no limit to imagination of what other people should not be able to do.
Guns are a reality in America and that won't change but guns that are designed as weapons of war and allow one man to kill 50 people in one incident should not be on the street. That is not a varmint gun it is a weapon of war.
Several politicians now pushing for Medicare for all it isn't universal health care, but it is a step in the right direction. My prescription program pays all but a few dollars on most prescriptions. My wife ran into the "donut hole" a few years ago where the prescription doesn't pay and her blood thinner cost $532.
