@Zardoz,
Predictive marketing is another wide open avenue for criminal activity. Now that people can bet on anything and winners can reap winnings through untraceable crypto currency, it's become very profitable to cheat in sports. And someone put a significant amount of money on the odds that Maduro would be captured and came away with over $400,000. Think someone might have gotten tipped off? Someone close to, or part of, the Trump administration? "The speculative investment was placed shortly before Mr. Trump announced Maduro's arrest at 4:21 a.m. Saturday on Truth Social."

@hightor,
There was a scandal over here involving "strange" bets in football.

Number of fouls, free kicks, own goals etc. not the normal things like win, score etc.

It was Chinese betting syndicates behind it and some footballers were prosecuted.

@hightor,
Cryptocurrency is going to have to be regulated by the government. When you let criminals keep their transactions secret it threatens everyone. The recent upswing in gambling is sad, and we have even seen people killed to obtain gambling money. We were able to keep a casino from being built in town. We used the local board to stop it, but the local board was bought after that and only had nonsense posted on it after that. The posters were, primarily, police, fire and publics works. After I was transferred to the police department, they had a rule that you could no longer post anything. They failed to make me aware of that rule. When I was talking about posting the other guys told me that I could not do that. I was no longer posting on a local board, so it did not worry me.

@Region Philbis,
We always have.

I don't know if you can now, but at one point we could bet on your presidential elections and you couldn't.

Election betting is newly legal — and risks getting confused with polls

The 6-million-dollar ransom is no doubt on its way, and the cryptocurrency company will do everything possible to protect the identity of the kidnappers because they are protecting their share of the take. If the kidnappers are successful in getting the 6 million there will be thousands of others who will do the same thing.

@Zardoz,
Crypto currency is tracable to a certain extent, wallets etc.

That is why many scammers ask for gift cards instead.

@izzythepush,
There has to be away to conceal the transaction otherwise when the $6 million was transferred the FBI could simply arrest the guy that got the money. Cryptocurrency is a criminal's dream and there will be many hidden pathways.

@Zardoz,
This is a high profile case.

Many scammers go unnoticed until they've already taken a lot.

Most transaction are traceable. But it just takes a few extra steps to make crypto transactions untraceable – using multiple wallets, fake email addresses, and "privacy coins". I don't like the way these things are going.

Quote:
Can investigators ever find the Bitcoin address owner?
Finding the owner of a Bitcoin address is nearly impossible, said Ken Gray, professor in the Department of Criminal Justice and Criminology at the University of New Haven and former FBI agent.

“Crypto’s not trackable,” Gray said. “It’s outside the banking system. You can’t find the owner. That’s why it’s the currency of choice for criminals.”

Money transferred by PayPal or Venmo could be traced, and "no one wants to carry a big suitcase of cash," Gray said. "Crypto is the modern way of transporting large amounts of money" quietly.

What about stories of crypto recoveries by investigators?

There are many stories of investigators recovering billions of dollars in cryptocurrency. But Gray said those cases usually begin by tracing a person through something physical, like an email or call, that leads them to the cryptocurrency.

In Guthrie’s case, the investigation might begin with the ransom notes the media outlets received, he said. Investigators could try to trace the emails. If the criminal’s a professional, the person may have used an anonymous email that passes through several networks to get to the recipient. That may make it more difficult to trace, but the FBI can sometimes exploit vulnerabilities.

As for the crypto itself: "It’s not leading to the person who’s requesting it,” Gray said.

@hightor,
Cryptocurrency companies are doing business in the United States as such they are subject to the laws of the United States. We regulate banks and transactions over $10,000 have to be verified. Cryptocurrency is in a wild west stage now but because cryptocurrency lacks adequate regulation now does not mean it cannot be regulated in the future. When new types of criminal activity pop up regulation follow.

After little Hitler had over a hundred “narco-terrorists” from Venezuela killed what is he going to do next? Start pardoning American narco-terrorists. They must be less dangerous narco-terrorist if they are from America. Do their drugs kill fewer people? It helps that they were former NFL players. Maybe they are drug dealers instead of narco-terrorists if they are from America.

Little Hitler and his lackies got laughed out of court yet again yesterday. Little Hitler was upset when Mark Kelly and other democratic congressmen made a social media post telling members of the military and intelligence community that they did not have to follow illegal orders. Trump said they could be executed for seditious behavior. The case was taken before a grand jury and not one single juror thought it was a violation of the law for the congressmen to remind the military what was already part of the military code. That just screams senile president.

In a court law both the prosecution and the defense get to make their arguments but in a grand jury it is different. Only the prosecution gets to make makes arguments. The grand jury only decides whether to indite someone or not, to decide whether the case goes to court or not. So, with only the prosecution making their case not one juror agreed with the government or for that matter the president. The president may brag all he wants that he can tell the difference between a giraffe and a lion but that does not make him mentally competent, cases like show he is completely senile.

Trump made a big thing about a ring of rich people molesting children during his campaign and now he has the biggest child molestation case in history and they are not going to prosecute one of the rich people who molested the underage girls, not one. Trump has told Marjorie Taylor Greene that these molesters were his friends as he pressured her not to vote to release the Epstein papers. Trump is even keeping one of his Commerce Secretary, Howard Lutnick, who visited Epstein’s island. First, he said it was with his wife, but after he found out wives were also serviced by the underage girls, he said it was his family. Then he said it was only for an hour. Virginia, the author of, “Nobody Girls” tells us the underage girls were not allowed to ware close on the Island. When given choice it shows what Trump would do about child molestation. Many of the crimes occurred in New York at Epstein’s mansion and there is no longer a statute of limitation in New York for child molestation meaning they can still be prosecuted for 100 years from now. Time is no longer an excuse.

Why do we investigate crimes? To find and punish the guilty. The Trump’s investigation of Epstein matter was to prevent the investigation of the guilty. Only Maxwell and Epstein got punished the other 500 or so billionaires and millionaires are not even being investigated let alone charged with any offence. We have heard the billionaires and millionaires tell us that they had no idea Epstein was a mega sex criminal even when surrounded by nude teenage girls. There are two sides for every story the truth and the lies of the rich. We have heard the lies of the rich, I was only on the island an hour, I had no idea Epstein was a child molester even though it was a matter public record. Trump’s attorney general has ended the investigation with no say from the victims.

There will never be any justice for the victims from Trump administrations so congressional hearing should be held to let the victims give their side of story and let the rich try to push their lies when the actual facts are presented like plane records. Anyone can create a shield of lies to protect themselves as long as the other side does not have the same access to public forum.

Guess whose name appears 38,000 times in the Epstein files? Trump, only Epstein name is likely to have appeared more than Trump’s. Those that are trying to cover Trump’s ass point to complaint filed before the 2020 election. Come on they don’t need to use Trump’s name thousands of times to file a complaint. Once they tell them who the complaint was against there is no need to keep repeating the name everybody knows who the complaint is against. The second excuse was Trump knew Epstein before he was jailed for child molestation. Why would a mere acquaintance of Epstein appear 38,000 times? The only reasonable explanation for Trump’s name appearing 38,000 times is that Trump is involved in many of the things that Epstein was involved in whether criminal or not.
