@dlowan,
This may be a stupid question, Deb, but any chance of a good friend looking after the kittens for a little while?

@msolga,
Oddly enough, one made such an offer...subject to her partner's approval, as he is the stay at home one.

I am wildly hoping Miranda might be ok with it...but I should follow it up.

Thing is they will be a couple of days short of four months when I get them, and I do want to bond!

@dlowan,
It might be worth considering, Deb.
Though there's no knowing how Miranda might react ..... She might be OK.

Yes, of course.
But, if you feel you can't have them at your place ...
If it makes you feel any better, I adopted my Poppy when she was around 3 years old.
And she's about as bonded as a cat can get! Smile

I got my Miranda when she was six months old. No problem with bonding.

She was about four or five when I got a kitten. She was not happy about it at all. I've been reluctant to say anything. Didn't want to make a bad situation worse. And every cat is different. Remember, your Miranda lived with another cat for a long time.

@Roberta,
Kittens just fully paid for.

Gulp.

Miranda fading but still in there.

She pissed on my bed for the third time the other day...we've been sleeping on the sofa because I soaked the mattress in white vinegar. This time she managed to reduce two pillows to rubbish,

Sigh.

@dlowan,
deb, Sighing. Have you decided when the kittens will arrive?

@Roberta,
No choice!!!

The breeder didn't want to make more than one trip to airport (it's a three hour trip apparently, so I can see why) so all kittens travelling by plane are going on the same day. And that day is tomorrow week...Sunday May 23rd. Due to arrive a bit after 4,00 pm. I am taking some annual leave to supervise and settle in.

I can imagine the scenes in the car getting all those kittens to the airport!

Miranda and I are going to vet's on Monday at 5.30 pm to discuss whether it is time.

No point getting new mattress until she goes...but I may get an underlay. If she is put down on Monday I will be getting a new mattress before kittens arrive! From Ikea, where they are cheap.

@margo,
Miranda, as ever, perked right up for her death sentence and spent the day being salined.

I turned out to be correct that she had a sore throat, and she is on antibiotics,. TWO pills to get down there!

Meanwhile, the kittens are coming!!

I bought them a bunch of toys and some scratching material and everyone in the house now has their own toilet.

I also bought an allegedly calming pheromone diffuser.

I have ordered an incontinence cover for my bed, so future episodes of Miranda pissing on my bed will hopefully be minimised in catastrophicness.

Hatches are as battened down as they can be. Vets hope (from her friendly attitude to other animals, especially the clinic cat, when at the vets) that she may not find the littlies too awful.

Not that they are so very little...they are more than four months old.

D Day is Sunday, and D hour is a bit after 4.00 pm.

@sozobe,
You know....it's kind of sad.

In two far flung places in Australia a bunch of cats snooze happily not knowing their world is about to collapse.

In Queensland, we have two litters of kittens, not knowing that on Sunday they are to be packed into boxes, on their own or with some random other kitten (who might be the only one in the whole lot they REALLY don't get on with), brutally ripped from their mothers' paws, driven to a remote destination, and loaded into sundry huge noisy monsters and bundled out into the care of total strangers.

Meanwhile, in Adelaide, Miranda sleeps happily, never dreaming of the3 horror that is about to descend.....

Yes, I guess it is .... sighing with you.
Reading along & following your latest developments, Deb.
And hoping Miranda will be more intrigued than put out by the new arrivals.
Good luck & do keep us posted.

@msolga,
Miranda vomiting up anything she eats last 12 hours...no evidence of her trying to eat today.

She seemed very happy this morning...tonight when I got home she looks miserable.

I'll put kittens to bed early tonight. Have made vet appointment for 9.45 am.

I think this is it.
