@Intrepid,
I love that comment! I worked with a young man who was convinced that God had abandoned this planet because of the atrocities committed in his name.

Annie's school is closed. I am staying home with her. We will probably remain inside.
Hey jw, good, stay inside and keep warm - hug wee Annie from me. How much snow have you got there? (((jw)))
Got to work after a while. Streetcar switching problems caused me a few delays. About a quarter of the staff is in.
The most annoying part of the trip in was at the beginning. I'd stepped into the bus shelter to get out my book and mp3 player, put mittens on etc .... the sidewalk snowplow came by and kinda trapped me in the bus shelter. It was a bit of a climb to get out to the sidewalk again
@ehBeth,
snowplow just went by - now i can't get out of or into the driveway !
noticed that in toronto some hardy cyclists are on the road .
Shoveling snow in the rain is not my favorite winter activity.
I'm soaked through.
This is very heavy wet snow.

"Hardy"
Not quite the word I'd use.
It just stopped snowing here. The plows are busy,which means there will be lots of packed ice at the foot of the driveway. I have black beans simmering for black bean soup and I will cut up a pumpkin to roast and turn into pumpkin pie. Real American comfort food. I'll also start some bread before going outside into the cold to shovel.
Last night, just as I was about to leave for work, the snow plow guy, who I thought had returned to CT (long story) appeared. He is a sweet man but not very smart. He managed to get his ancient Dodge ram stuck in my driveway. My son went out to help him but first told him his front differential was shot and his tires were bald.
My son managed to get him unstuck, but I had to call into work to tell them I would be late. "This is going to sound like the dog-ate-my-homework," I began sheepishly. By the time I finished, my coworker was laughing and had agreed with me.
As I have a snow day today, I just hope I accomplish something, other than checking papers and preparing food and shoveling. Ironing would be nice. So would learning to use the online writing program my students receive as part of their text book package. It is already past noon. Prognosis not good for much.
reporter on the CBC just announced that the hype for this storm was a bit of a SNOWverreaction
CBC is now saying the storm is over.
@hamburgboy,
There are still people cycling here in Western MA where a bike is often the second car.
Third biggest snowfall in recorded history, my company actually stopped deliveries for tomorrow. First time they have done so in the 13 years I have been there. 20" at O'Hare and 70 mph gusts recorded. Happy to be watching it from my window...
Frankly, I'm disappointed. I was expecting so much more. I will not be making a snow fort.
@joefromchicago,
I agree, what happened to the 31" and 20 ' waves?
Well, CBC announced that Environment Canada had declared that the storm is over. And it's snowing again . . .
It's OK by me . . . but it sure makes Environment Canada look like a bunch of monkeys . . .
Metrology is a misunderstood science.. lol
And no one misunderstands it better than Environment Canada . . .
