@joefromchicago,
Well, it was coming in 2012 anyway.

At least we haven't had months to dwell upon our current doom.

Besides, weather.com says only 24 states and 100 million people will be impacted by this storm.

Plenty of people will be left for the 2012 doom or the Global Warming catastrophe - which ever comes first.

Here's what my back deck looks like just from previous storms. We're supposed to get an additional 18" on top of what's already out there. Smile

The joker reporting for Environment Canada is calling it Snowmageddon. This Wikipedia page has links to articles on recent big snowstorms--including Snowzilla.

@Region Philbis,
No place to put it. If I try to dump it on the piles (taller than my 5'6" noggin), about 3/4 comes down. So I have put it on the sidewalk and now we have the thinnest of walkways but could get the car out if we absolutely had to.

It's still coming down, though, and in a few hours or so, will appear as if I did nothing. Still, right now, I can pretend that I did something.

It's pretty bad in Chicago right now. The winds are very strong and snow is coming down without interruption.

I was a Chicago grammar school student in 1967 when we had 23 inches of snow. Of the Chicagoans on A2K, I may be the only one who has experience with the 1967 storm. (In 1967, Gargamel was still an amoeba.)

@JPB,
I was but a mere tyke, but I remember the great snowstorm of 1967. It was awesome! I am planning on building a totally cool snow fort tomorrow as a tribute.

@joefromchicago,
Take pictures!

I've filled water buckets in case we lose power (no power = no water), charged my cell phone, and made sure the pantry was stocked with canned goods. Now that I've done all those things we probably won't lose power. That makes it worth the effort.

Wild and windy out there now.

@plainoldme,
wouldn't mind if the storm would had south across lake ontario and into new york state just before it reaches kingston Cool

new yorkers - particularly those living around syracuse , watertown , potsdam - know how to handle the snow !

My windows remind me of the days before we replaced them and they would cover over in a thick layer of frost. Only this time it's blown snow not frost.

Mr B is out shoveling. Don't ask me why. Winds are in the 30-40mph range with higher gusts.
