@okie,
Okie, saying that a fundamentalist faction of a religion represents the religion of all of it's followers is saying that the Westboro folks represent all of Christianity.

What good do thay do at home, when u r out??
Its like failing to buckle your seatbelt.

I'm only just reading your post after researching that Limbaugh article. Interesting point. So you believe this disaster wouldn't have happened if she'd been totin' her guns, eh? I heard Loughner hit her from behind.
I did not know that.
R u sure ?

What good are guns against that?
Well, maybe with luck,
someone might call out a warning;
anyway, possibly the victim can fight back
after the first shot, to stop follow up shots.
For sure, like an unbuckled seatbelt,
u will get no good from guns left at home,
if u go out (as she did).

Do you know anything about what happened? This is a serious question. Did you read any details of the incident before pronouncing that, if she'd only had a gun, she would have been safe from this?

@OmSigDAVID,
dave, we should play a game.

I come to NY, and I bet I can come up and touch you and say bang, before you can draw your gun.

but you have to promise not to shoot me, because I will be unarmed.

wanna try it?

I suggest you look into the religion a bit before offering your theories on it.
just saying...
Perhaps you or pom are so knowledgeable as to be able to tell us all whether the Islamic religion teaches them to kill the rest of us? I think the answer to this question is important, because it will resolve whether Islamic terrorists are killing because of their religion or because of some other reason.

There was a similar story in Milwaukee a few years ago where a man heard these noises in his house (there were also instances of break-ins in the neighborhood).
The man retrieved his hand gun and shot the intruder, killing him. The intruder happened to be the mans son who was coming home from college .

A gun has zero conscience
U need to use it carefully.
Know what u r shooting at
and be mindful of competent backstops.

Do you see where your own argument is heading here, Okie? It's counter to the arguments you have been making here for years, re: Islamic extremism and our various wars in the Middle East.

@Rockhead,
As Larry King would say, "ANSWER THE QUESTION!" Since you are so informed, Rocky, why won't you answer, so that others like me can benefit from your infinite enlightenment?

I see where the argument is leading. It is leading to a demonstration of liberal hypocrisy.

Is this serious?

For years you and other Republicans have been arguing that we are in a war of ideology, against radical Islaam. Yet you now seem to be suggesting that these terrorists weren't really religious and were nothing more than criminals. This is counter to the argument you've made for years and supports the arguments that I and others have made for years: namely, that we should treat Terrorism as a criminal problem and not a War problem.

You don't remember any of that? At all?

What exactly is the hypocrisy you refer to? Or did that just sound nice on the end of the post.

@Cycloptichorn,
Actually, while most all of the earlier reports have been that she was shot from behind, so you're right that if David didn't know that he probably hadn't read much, they now think it may have been from the front (which I find a bit more chilling -- execution-style I guess). They don't know for sure:

Quote:
TUCSON, Ariz. -- Doctors now think that Rep. Gabrielle Giffords might have been shot in the front of the head, not the back.

After she was wounded last weekend, doctors said the bullet traveled the length of the left side of the congresswoman's brain, entering the back of the skull and exiting the front.

At a briefing Tuesday, Dr. Peter Rhee said it now looks like she was probably shot in the front, with the bullet going out the back, although they can't say for certain.

He said that's based on consultations with two specialists who came to Tucson.

@sozobe,
Amazing that there was no typical blowout exit wound, like you see from some gunshots. So lucky.

I've read about people who got shot in the head at point-blank range and survived b/c the bullet skipped off of the skull. Crazy how these things can happen one way or another.
