@hawkeye10,
That's not a stance on either character or destiny which will serve you, hawkeye. If the reverse is true, your destiny thus far speaks embarrassingly of your character.

You're opening a restaurant. You'd like to associate your success with your character? Dare to put your money where your mouth is? Post a "Muslims aren't winning me over" sign in your window when you open it up. Let us view how your character guides your destiny.

That's just a laughable belief. (Actually, that's a particular logical fallacy as well, although I can't dredge up the name of it.)

Like it or not, bad people can prosper, and good people can suffer.

You and Gunga should go have a drink; he believes that being a Democrat actually affects one's physical appearance.

What the Moslems r doing with the location of that mosque

good things come to those who wait
instant karma's gonna getcha

the good old myth of the just society

that was debunked by Mel Lerner and the rest of the social psychology researchers back in the late 1960's, early 1970's

@OmSigDAVID,
But the so-called enemy are those who would ignore the US Constitution and the Freedom of Religion. I believe the Muslims have it right on ethics and the laws of our country. What do you have? Feelings and emotions? You people certainly do not have sensitivity towards Muslims. That's what is termed bigots and hypocrisy.

@cicerone imposter,
I don't think any group has it right. Groups speak in groupspeak, which seldom nails the thoughts/feelings of the individuals. Just as Americans differ in their opinions on ethics and laws, so do Muslims.

@JPB,
As far as that goes, most individuals do not have it right on all things. However, most people fail the truth test. We let feelings and emotions control matters that should be based on rights and truth. We all have our biases, but when it concerns people's rights in this country, the US Constitution should be the controlling factor.

I believe the Muslims have it right on ethics and the laws of our country. What do you have?
I have the RIGHT TO TAKE OFFENSE and resentment.
I have never and do not propose that ANY government interfere with building the mosque.

In the future, if anyone (any private citizen) blows the place up with fertilizer, like Timothy McVeigh,
I also have the right to cheer and applaud.

No; its not a free speech issue, so far as I am aware.

It is simply KNOWING who our enemy IS,
and mentally regarding him as such.

That can be done without making any noise,
unless we WANT to, but it can be done silently.

Yes; that is among the options. Resentment and enmity can be borne in silence . . . . (until)

It is held in some quarters that the Moslems will not actually go thru with it.
I have no opinion on that point.
I will not predict human behavior.

The problem is that YOU might want to make enemies of these people, but I don't want to.

So just make sure you're talking for yourself, and don't try to put words in my mouth.

The mass killings and the torture of whole nations of women in the name of Islam does indeed tend over times to reduce the sensitivity toward Muslims.

WHAT did I say that puts words into YOUR mouth ?????

Obviously, super-obviously, I am representing my own position
and that of those Americans who agree with me, not U !!

WHEN did I allege that I represent YOUR opinions ??????
That possibility certainly never occurred to me.
I doubt that we have ever agreed about anything, for however many years.

according to today's NYT's piece the motivation for this project is to relieve overcrowding in the area mosques. They also say that what interfaith component that it has, and this is still not nailed down, is a SOP to critics. I think we know that this was never intended to be either the "like a YMCA" or to be a interfaith center.
