Resentment based on bigotry is nothing to acknowledge. Most people are not aware of US history or the US Constitution to believe they shouldn't build a mosque on that site. When Muslims wish to appease those bigots, they are also wrong. They must learn to stand up for their rights; equal rights.
Please name ten people from amongst the 250 million plus Americans who claim that there is no Constitutional right to build this project.

@hawkeye10,
I bet that you can not come up with even ten Americans...

How about we dispense with your straw men, and get down to business, Mkay?

Are you talking about Manhattan Island?

Also, when you sign your posts with "A R T," is there a reason you do not add the first letter of the first word of your moniker? Adding the "F" would only make sense?

That depends entirely if the immigrant is a citizen or not. Also, it depends on who does the voting.

In an odd sense many people believe I am more important than your litany of immigrant nationalities, since my family helped maintain the economy of this city going back to the nineteenth century. And, as a veteran, I am to some, considered more American, and therefore, more important. Not everyone subscribes to what in my opinion can be referred to as reckless egalitarianism.

@Foofie,
Foofie, Being a veteran doesn't make you more American. You need to learn what constitutes an American; many do not serve in our military, but they have the same freedoms, legal rights, and opportunities afforded to all. You still haven't memorized "all men are created equal." There is no such thing as "more American."

Even if they aren't citizens yet, you aren't more important. You may be able to vote, but not even the ability to vote let's you vote into place a second class citizenry.

If one takes the time to define "more important," one will find that we are all not equal. Religious people might believe we are all equal in God's eyes; however, in society we are all not equal. If one is talking about the Constitution, fine, we are equal; however, one cannot fill one's stomach, based on the Constitution, nor clothe oneself, based on the Constitution. We are really unequal, in differing ways.

Their sensitivity and willingness to coexist with others certainly has been questioned however. The response has been both finger pointing and finger giving. This is not encouraging.

But isn't that just the political correctness you abhore? Let's make sure everyone's feelings are protected. Let's ask people to voluntarily forfeit their rights, change all their plans, restart their entire effort so that everyone can have a warm fuzzy. I think that just about every project in NY stomps on someone's toes, but this one steps on 911 toes, so let's just be politically correct and ask them to move?

By God, you've got it! The rain in Spain falls mainly on the plain.

How could anyone possible think this

parados, Perfect response: "all men are created equal." Foofie and hawk believe they are superior to all others, and they have the gall to call themselves Americans/patriots. Their kind of thinking belongs in another country where like-minded people believe as they do. Emotion and feelings are primary in their world view; everything else is secondary. Forget the Constitution and the Bill of Rights.

You are making wild accusations about me. You do not know who I might feel superior to, so saying, "superior to all others" is just slander. I do though think you are superior to all Japanese immigrants that have not learned to speak English yet.

reckless egalitarianism is very strong in America right now, look at the arguments of the "build the Mosque" crowd for illustration. And take note of how our very own FART does not think it should make a damn bit of difference if a person in America is a citizen or not, we are all supposed to be equal regardless according to him. This whopper of ignorance should have you quaking in your boots.

Of course you are correct Foofie, it is one of the main reasons we give our prosecutor's discretion in going after convictions. Some people should get wrung up for a particular bad deed, others have contributed so much to the collective or been so good up till that point that to punish them would neither be fair to them nor be in the collectives best interest. In the abstract, in theory, we are all equal, but was all know that right here and right now we are not equal. Correction, we all SHOULD know, but we sadly have a lot of fools running around currently. Bad education kills us with a thousand different cuts....

I just got through explaining that I believe you are superior to all non-English speaking Japanese immigrants, and you now are trying to tell me that you see them as equals? Silly child.

I can name several that are unaware there is a constitutional right. In fact there are probably millions that oppose the mosque that would unaware there is a right for them to build there.
