@OmSigDAVID,
One does not need to know American history to recognize gobbledee gook. The matter here is one of grammar and logic, not history. As for the history, you were proved wrong by PArados' quotation of the dissenting opinion.

That sounds like an admission that the 2nd Amendment is out of date, irrelevant and, therefore, should be amended out of the Constitution.

No, Plain; the grammarians are on MY side, as the USSC has held in HELLER
and re-affirmed in McDONALD

I stand by what I said; no problem.

No; u r simply confused, Plain.
It will become a lot more relevant very soon, as gun control laws are torn down in the near future
because of McDONALD, and gun control follows in the footsteps of nazism & communism into extinction.

The police prevent very few crimes, because criminals
ofen prefer to commit felonies in private; the police just try to avenge the victim, be he alive or not.

When seconds count, the police are just minutes away.

When I got shot at, I was alone, except for the criminals.
When Kitty Genovese and Reginald Denny were attacked
(the latter on national TV for about an hour), how much good
did the police do him, Prof. Plain. Will u explain that to me??
The police are good only for vengeance, after the fact.

I win; u lose and THAT is the Supreme Law of the Land !

Private fire departments? I don't know of any.
volunteer militia would be the national guard, not David owning a gun since Congress is given certain powers in relation to militias.

Really? It says that in the Constitution?

Oh, wait... it doesn't say that at all. That's David just making stuff up.

@OmSigDAVID,
So, grammarians sued on behalf of those nutcases Heller and McDonald? Were the grammarians from the MLA or another organization?

@OmSigDAVID,
It is not wishful thinking. The nutcases of the NRA are on a temporary ascendancy with the rest of the extreme right. After the gun laws are loosened and there are waves of violence, the collective face of America, replete with egg, will dump the second Amendment. It might take 40, even 60 years, but it will happen.

In 1987, Florida began a string of dominos, falling for freedom, rejecting gun control,
in favor of granting licenses for concealed guns to be issued automatically upon demand,
unless the applicant has something drastically rong with him,
e.g., a nasty criminal history or an adjudication, after hearing,
of mental disability; i.e., about 40 States followed Florida in doing that.
When gun control was rejected, in each State: crime dropped,
inasmuch as future victims were armed (if such thay desired).

After gun control went into effect (in earlier years): crime went UP, and got worse,
because future victims were disarmed for the criminals' safety,
by operation of law. Gun control is the Workers' Paradise for violent criminals,
so far as personal safety on-the-job is concerned.

Of those States (about 40 of the 50 States) who rejected gun control
in favor of freedom: NONE -- count 'em-- not one of them,
has ever gone back to gun control, since 1987.

@OmSigDAVID,
Well, that may be fine to you, but, you have lived what I might call and do, an "unlived life," unhinged from reality and experience.

Furthermore, what you call freedom, others see as expressions of license, immaturity and paranoia. Your emphasis on the need for security is rather pathetic.

Freedom prevails in Vermont, Alaska and Arizona
(tho thay continue to legally discriminate against children).

Soon Utah, and Wyoming r expected to follow; then others,
when their good experience proves to be good examples.

Define n explain ??

Let them be damned; what thay "see" has no effect, other than upon their own minds.
America is supposed to be the Land of the FREE and the home of the Brave.

Is it your position that crime is a delusion ?

plainoldme wrote:

That 's a subjective thing for u to admit,
but its harmless. If u or those whose well-being u favor
fall victim to the predatory violence of man or beast,
out of good manners, we freedom-lovers will try not to laff. OK ?

Remember the Susan Gonzalez experience.
