I guess the shooter must have been acting in self-defense.
Right, USSC?
Right, NRA?

Guns don't kill people, but man, they sure make it easy.

@Joe Nation,
Would you have been happier in centuries past, where killings proceeded by low-tech means such as knives and poisons?

A casual click of the trigger and one can walk calmly away, picking one's teeth.

6 Dead, 4 Hospitalized In NM Office Shooting
Gunman Among Dead
SUSAN MONTOYA BRYAN, Associated Press Writer

POSTED: 11:59 am MDT July 12, 2010
UPDATED: 12:34 pm MDT July 12, 2010

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. --

A gunman opened fire at an Albuquerque fiber optics manufacturer on Monday, killing five people and wounding four others before turning the gun on himself in what police said was a domestic violence dispute.

The shooting at Emcore Corp. appeared to involve the 37-year-old gunman's ex-wife or girlfriend, police Chief Ray Schultz said. It was not immediately clear whether she was among the dead. Schultz said the gunman was a former employee.

Chaos unfolded as the gunman opened fire, sending employees fleeing for cover as police locked down the entire neighborhood. Police said 85 employees were later taken to a community center for interviews with detectives.

Six victims were taken to University of New Mexico Hospital, spokesman Billy Sparks said. One was dead on arrival, one died in the operating room and one was still in surgery but expected to be transferred to intensive care soon.

One of the other three was in the hospital's imaging department and two others were in stable condition in the emergency room.

It wasn't immediately clear whether the remaining victims died at the scene or at another hospital.

Emcore manufactures components that allow voice, video and data transmission over fiber optic lines. They also manufacture solar power systems for satellite and ground-based systems.

Based in Albuquerque, the company has about 700 full-time employees.

@edgarblythe,
Hardly. Entirely impossible, in fact, since you need both hands to reload. Try testing scenarios before posting them - please.

@roger,
Outlawing humans might be altogether more effective - human-free zone would be also gun-free. Leftist paradise.

Alternatively, you might have been thinking of killing off people with sabers, swords, knives, longbows, or anything else involving sharp points. In that case of course the killer could walk off cleaning his teeth with the murder weapon. But not with any kind of gun. So complain to your dentist Smile

@Butrflynet,
3 dead? Please give me a link to your other thread on those other 3 dead people in Albuquerque - hard to locate with just the "3 dead" data function:
Quote:
ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - A head-on collision near Interstate 40 and Rio Puerco on the frontage road left three people dead and three others injured on Sunday. Two cars were involved in the wreck, according to Deputy Lawrence Koren from the Bernalillo County Sheriff's Office.

@High Seas,
Golly, I wonder why you don't read about anybody entering a company office, successfully murdering people and then turning the knife/crowbar/axe on himself??

You have to hand it to the deranged killers of America, don't you? They are nothing if not modernists. They utilize the most efficient, up to date, lethal tools available, leaving the police and other authorities will very little to do except notify the grieving families left behind in the carnage.

I feel sorry for the maniacs of other countries who must have to go to much greater lengths to achieve their own special level of death toll.
So difficult,

On April 26, 2002, Robert Steinhäuser, a 19-year-old from a middle class family, carried out Germany’s biggest mass murder since the 1972 Munich Olympics .

Holy Cow! Why doesn't someone stand up for greater opportunities for German mass-murderers? We Americans could hardly stand to wait thirty years for some headlines filled with "Shots-fired, _____ Dead".

I have the feeling that most American editors have that headline in a file, just waiting to use on a daily basis.

@Joe Nation,
I'm sick and tired of the way "SOME" dead are "MORE EQUAL" than others. 3 others died in an accident at a nearby location, but nobody here started a thread about them - not politically correct enough: http://www.krqe.com/dpp/news/local/central/wreck-kills-three-injures-three-more

About the car accident that killed those 3 other non-PC victims? Not unless you edited - there is no link in any of your posts - there's one in mine.

@High Seas,
Accidents are accidents. The shooting incident doesn't appear to be accidental.
