Too simplistic. You're assuming that Iranian leadership is governed by reason. It's not. Once the nukes fly, Hell will be unleashed upon Planet Earth. Let's not allow circumstances to progress that far. It's best to suppress Iran's nuke program, period. :no:

If the Iranians are irrational, why haven't they simply launched airstrikes and missile attacks against Israel?

@Fatal Freedoms,
I wish I could travel five years into the future, then bump this thread to ask why we never found any nukes in Iran even after we invaded, occupied, and spent trillions of dollars we dont have to destroy/rebuild another strategic foothold. America is spreading itself so thin, it will eventually collapse if policies do not change. Iraq was not a threat, Iran is not a threat, these unprovoked invasions and subsequent govt. restructuring are nothing more than the early stages of America's quest for global domination. Just like Rome, just like Germany, if we continue, we will be destroyed. God help us.

Spoken like a true liberal socialist. Listen, the reason no nukes were found is the same reason my dad never found my pot in my room when I was 16 and he only gave me 5 minutes warning that he was coming to inspect. And, if you think Iran is developing nuclear for energy only, just listen to their leader - he hates you and everything you stand for as an American.

hiding pot is hardly comparable to hiding nuclear weapon and production means.

If you think Iran is making nuclear weapons you need to stop watching faux news, if you actually take the time to talk to the Iranians you will discover they are actually afraid of us, they are not trying to instiagte any war because they fear what a US invasion could do to their nation, they feel like we are anatagonizing them, they think Bush wants to invade them at all costs and from what i've seen that seems to be accurate. They have nothing to gain from attacking the US or developing nuclear weapons, because they are not in any iminent danger from any nearby nations and the last thing they want is to fight the worlds most powerful nation...the news depicts them as a bunch of crazy sadistic people, and that simply isn't true they are just normal people, even thought their leader is a little whacked out but thats no different than our leader who is clearly out of his mind.

@Fatal Freedoms,
So because you smoked pot we should be hyper paranoid and kick everyones ass. I am willing to bet that your old man knew you where smoking but but he knew it would do no good to kick your door in and beat your ass because you would do it regardless. What is the harm in simply observing Iran, just like we observe N. Korea, China, Russia etc. Why are we so focused on Iran when N. Korea is doing the same thing? And dont say its to protect Israel, because there are a whole lot of Far East countries that need defending more than Israel. I just dont understand the hard on for the M.E.

Have you spoken to the Iranians..? I agree that as a people they are afraid of us - meaning any retribution that may follow an aggressive action by their leadership but that is what we fear also. I do not trust their leaders any more than I trust ours. They are all corrupted by the power. All of them. Hillary, Obama, Rudy, Romney...they all should be kicked to the curb. Their only interest is in the power they possess as president of this once great and powerful country, not in you or me.

In fact, that's what's going on. A lot of sabre-rattling and posturing with some tough talk thrown in to spice it up. In the end, you're right. If Iran wants to blow Israel from the face of the earth as they proclaimed, they will. Nothing we do short of total elimination will stop it.

Actually, it did stop me from smoking pot. He was a special agent with the justice department and took me to the jailhouse for a visit - my personal "Scared Straight" episode.

So by showing you an example of what could be you stopped smoking pot. If he would have simply whipped your ass and said dont do it because I said so, it would have turned out quit a bit different. Your father was diplomatic about it, he used is position of power to educate you. Just like we should.

In order for their nuclear capabilities to become a threat (for it to become weaponized), they will have to perform tests. Tests which will be impossible to hide from us. At that point, when we have definitive evidence that they are developing nuclear weapons, we would be justified in intervening (NOT invading, diplomatically intervening). Until that point in time, it's none of our goddamn business how they generate their electricity.

I recognize the fact that it is a great strategic vantage point, but my perspective is broad enough to be retro-intuitive. Imagine if China decided that Mexico was harboring anti-Chinese terrorists, so they invade Mexico, destroy their military, and install a mirror chinese govt. (lead by mexicans, of course :beat: ) You bet your bottom dollar the US would have a huge problem with it, and we'd be sending soldiers to Mexico to fight the Chinese invasion. Exactly what Iran is doing.
