@ossobuco,
I offered to do something like that. She did not like the idea.

Car Wash Thief
Bill owns a company that manufactures and installs car wash systems. Bill ‘s company installed a car wash system in Frederick , MD.

Now, understand that these are complete systems, including the money changer and money taking machines.

The problem started when the new owner complained to Bill that he was losing significant amounts of money from his coin machines each week.

He went as far as to accuse Bill ‘s employees of having a key to the boxes and ripping him off. Bill just couldn’t believe that his people would do that, so they setup a camera to catch the thief in action. Well, they did catch him on film!

That’s a bird sitting on the change slot of the machine.

The bird had to go down into the machine, and back up inside to get to the money!

That’s three quarters he has in his beak! Another amazing thing is that it was not just one bird — there were several working together. Once they identified the thieves, they found more than $4000 in quarters on the roof of the car wash and more under a nearby tree.

And you thought you heard of everything by now!! !!

@Francis,
Good one, francis. Birds are so resourceful, they rarely surprise me anymore.

@edgarblythe,
One more try - do they have pipe extenders for regular showerhead fixtures?

Boid crooks. Love it.

Why in the world did the birds want the quarters? We'll probably never know.

@ossobuco,
osso
a half inch nipple will fit where the showerhead pipe fits. From there, it's just a question of an ell, another pipe and whatever to stabilize and point it. But that is irelevant, because she does not want it rigged, but "done right."

I am never rude to a resident, but I am going to stonewall it with her and let the office deal with her.

@edgarblythe,
In that case, we're back to the cost/benefit analysis. I mean, she can have a five wheeled Cadillac if she wants, but it's going to cost to get it. It will also cost when she sells it.

@roger,
She probably does not get enough oxygen to think clearly. She goes around with a hose in her nose.

How very strange ...
Exploding watermelons.
Haven't heard of such occurrences ever before!

Fields of exploding watermelons are creating havoc in China, and farmers overdosing their crops with growth chemicals are getting the blame.

About 20 farmers around Danyang city in Jiangsu province have been affected, losing up to 45 hectares of melon, China Central Television said in an investigative report.

The broadcaster described the watermelons as "land mines" and said they were exploding by the hectare in the Danyang area. ...<cont>

@msolga,
Talk about killing fields! Smile

This stuff actually seems to be fairly common among the kind of farmers who compete in who's-got-the-biggest-pumpkin contests. I'm not surprised it occurs in watermelons as well.

@msolga,
Hey, neat story! I wouldn't have thought:

Time to get back to some more natural farming methods!
