@edgarblythe,
I thought it was Texas over Houston. When did all the other states start looking like Texas?

@izzythepush,
Ha!

To give you some perspective, see the town of Sealy on the West side of Edgars map?

That's about 80 kilometers from the center of Houston.

Austin, where I live, is another 190 km West and a little North of that.

To get from Austin to El Paso, at the far West of Texas, you'd go another 925 kilometers.

Funny story from when I was working. A co-worker was flying in from I think Chicago and was supposed to be at a meeting that started at 9am.
Around 9:30 I called him to see if he had gotten lost on the way from the airport.

He said no, he had decided to fly into Dallas/Fort Worth instead, and that he figured it would probably add on another 1/2 hour to his drive, and that way he could see some of Texas.

I told him I'd see him at lunch. He thought I was kidding.

With traffic and all he finally got there around 2pm. We always laughed about that afterwards, like for years.

I should point out before the meme police arrive that the blue map is not actually to scale. This is a variation on the jokes about "everything in Texas is bigger."

Actually edgar, not true.

This seems to be an accurate comparison.

I went on the link below that I think you once provided, and drug CT over that area of TX.

If it wasn't you that once shared this link, it was someone else who really provided a cool comparison tool.

You can compare any 2 places in the world. Fun.

Frankie Boyle

We all know where we were when Diana died. I for one was weaving around Paris in a white Fiat.

I once saw an English guy in Glasgow trying to order a pint of lager and lime and the barman went: We don't do cocktails.

When I went to school, sex education was mainly muttered warnings about the janitor.

They’ve bought out a condom now for people with premature ejaculation and they’ve put an anesthetic in the lining that makes you numb and you can last for longer. Or, you can wear it inside out and you don’t have to wake anybody up!

Victoria Beckham looks like she has a dump once every four years. That’s probably how David knows that there’s a World Cup coming up.

The owners of a dog which swallowed a diamond worth £12000 had to wait three days until it re-emerged. With a bit of planning it could have been a nice way to propose.

Enough!

I've seen link after link about this, but haven't clicked on any to see if one sheds light on the tale. I leave it to others to debunk it.

@edgarblythe,
Because police love to admit that they lost someone they had in a "high security room". They never lie about that.

Rik was a funny guy. I still watch the Young Ones on occasion. One of the better English gifts to the world.

@edgarblythe,
The Young Ones was a TV series from the early 80s. It launched Rik Mayall's career, although he had played Kevin Turvey in a series of monologues on A Kick Up The 80s.

I saw him at the Mayflower when he was at the height of his career. It's the only time I've wanted a comedian to stop for a few minutes because I hurt so much laughing.

He got to the point where he could say anything and people would laugh. At one point he said his girlfriend died last week and everyone laughed. Only to be followed by mock outrage and more laughter.

I've not known any other comic to be able to do that.

This is one of the Turvey monologues. They're all on youtube.

@edgarblythe,
It's all on youtube as is Kevin Turvey the Man Behind the Green Door,.

He's also played Lord Flash heart in Blackadder and during the dark days of Thatcher Alan B'stard far right conservative politician in The New Statesman.

Here he is with Fry and Laurie.
