I was a little nervous about coming back to read this thread again. Some of it was rough for a while.

@msolga,
I noticed this thread but never joined in. And then it went from humor to just plain ugly.
So. Who ended up paired with Gus?

@George,
Please keep quiet, George, now we got this saintly woman Aidan to take him in - if you keep him talking she may change her mind and send him back Smile

send who back? Ramafuchs or spendius? I wouldn't send either of them back- because you know what is the absolute most fun when an American lives with someone with a European accent? I've learned this. They all think they speak so much more cultured than we (Americans) do and so everytime you open your mouth to pronounce something like water or butter they exaggerate the way Americans flatten the vowels, slur the consonants and speak more slowly and they tease you saying in a voice that sounds like a used car salesman, 'Say, would you like some wah-ter for that plant.' And then I get to say back, 'No dahling, but I'd love some woter for my plahnt,' in a very cultured English accent. Or I could do the yob thing and say, 'I fancy a bit of wo-er for my plahnt' employing the glottal stop which is so much fun to do.

And I have a German friend, Pia, and we love doing each other's accents for each other's amusements. I'm getting really good at hers - 'Pole (that's Paul) I've puht ze salmon in ze ohven.'

I think we'd have too much fun doing each other's accents for me to ever think of sending one of zem bahck.

As long as I had something to laugh about - they could stay. We'd be having language fun ourselves - it wouldn't be Greek or latin - but hey, it'd be fun.

@laughoutlood,
Are you Scottish laughoutlood?
I enjoy saying your name.

I was responding to HighSeas comment as to the possibility of me sending someone back- I told a little story..
I didn't know I had to ask permission or make my comments in a way that specific and particular posters would find appropriate - finding my post inappropriate by their standards seems to me to be an effort to make it all about them - and what they'd find an appropriate response from me to a comment by another poster to me.

I'd say I'm sorry I didn't come through to dlowan's standards - but I'm not- because I don't think I ever could...even if I were a lesbian...oh sorry - didn't mean to make it all about me again.

@spendius,
In my case I was just refraining from stating the obvious.

Do you know how to remove ink from wood without harming the finish? If so - you could be my partner.. Laughing Laughing Laughing
