@Ionus,
Is Rebecca me? (Aidan)?
If so, another flattering match up. He seems a very kind person AND he rides bikes!

I noticed this thread but never joined in. And then it went from humor to just plain ugly.
So. Who ended up paired with Gus?

Actually, come to think of it, I don't think anyone ended up with Gus, RJB!
A missed opportunity if ever I saw one! Wink

Poor Gus was never able to marry his true love (because of the laws against it). Smile

@msolga,
OK I'll stick my neck out and say that Merry Andrew and Gus would make the perfect "Odd Couple" on A2K. Of course theirs is a platonic relationship. They are just madly in love with one another's minds. Born to be soul mates.

And Merry Andrew can go fetch Gus a New York Times every morning and read him the editorials.

@Ionus,
I had to get back and check (I usually don't pay attention to thumbs up/down)
and they're 5 up Very Happy

You and H2O are very much alike, that's why.

For good-natured humor and fun, I would nominate Dys and Diane.

I will admit, lots of arguments, but most are the fun, interesting kind.

Also, soul mates, best friends, immensely lucky to have found each other.

No petty ugliness.

Love is so much lovlier the second time around, at least for us.

That is the sort of love story that puts a lump in my throat, and the last lump I got there was from someone trying to kill me. Wish you all the best...remember to breed like rabbits and if you ever go back in time dont kill anything because it will change the future....

@Ionus,
Really? I have assumed, Ionus, from your writing that you are a man. I have come to mistrust one man's acknowledgement of another man's looks. My exhusband thought some of the ugliest men were handsome while I once had a boyfriend who could never find another man goodlooking, even men widely acknowledged as heart throbs.

How about killing Karl Marx or Gavrilo Princip before thay start any trouble?
Save tens of millions of folks from death and hundreds of millions from nazi slavery and from communist slavery.
(However, if u DO, then we might very well not have these conversations in that peace will have a retarding effect
on technological R & D; we 'd be lucky to have even little black n white TVs.)

I'm like that POM. Wildly acknowledged heart throbs I find even more nauseating than the ordinary Joe and he's nauseating enough. I presume that's why the Heroic Man of today is often to be seen all kitted up as Action Man.

Men do admire other men though. It's nothing to do with their looks. It's the characteristics they show. Take Benny Hill. I always admired Benny. I stopped admiring Woody Allen when he started taking himself seriously. One of the things I like about Coronation Street is the nauseating nature of the male characters. The females are simply dangerous.

And the characteristics can be shown in books and admiring men long dead is a pretty safe rebuttal of a charge of being a touch fruity.

It CAN be. I 've had the experience of watching a movie and thinking:
"jeeez, I 'd be better off if I looked half as good as that guy."
I 've always felt bad when I pass a mirror,
yet (inconsistently therewith) when I get these feelings of personal esthetic dissatisfaction
when I 'm in a public place, I never see anyone with whose appearance I 'd like to trade mine.
