@plainoldme,

Doesn't every high school have beautiful as well as homely honor students?

Yeah, but people are always surprised about the beautiful honor's student, especially if it's a girl, as opposed to viewing it as being par for the course when the homely student is academically successful.

That clues you in to the innate expectations that do and don't go along with good looks.

You know - I guess it all depends on what you want out of life and how you want to be approached.

I too don't see what wearing a tailored suit has to do with spending more time in front of the mirror.

If it fits well, it might even mean you spend less time in front of the mirror,
as you don't have to adust it or fuss with it.
After I take delivery from the tailor, I just put them on each time I get them back from the dry cleaner;
no problem, no delay. Getting dressed only takes about 3 minutes, at a slow pace.
Unlike GIRLS, who have left me waiting outside in my car, illegally parked,
sweating it out, for unconscionably huge lengths of time.

Female sadists!

I sat out there pondering "what coud she possibly be DOING that is taking so long?" and not just ONE of them.
I have never been a conspiracy theorist, but . . .

@OmSigDAVID,
Gadzooks: this thread has taken a turn. We all vary on our interest in couture or being hip or ignoring all that. We have varying bodies. I follow what is going on in fashion just to keep up - I think of fashion as a sycophantic population, at the same time I can like design, whether by a designer or from the street (and copied by professionals). I'm more interested in play.

What on earth has this to do with a2k minds being couples of either opposite or apposite tendencies?

Why would I care if someone has a "fat face"? I've been attracted to many men, most of them with terrific brains. It never ever occurred to me to judge men re how my children might turn out, not even for looks. I suppose there is data to say that is how we choose but it is foreign to me.

@ossobuco,
Many men--terrific brains!!?? In a narrow social circle. Are you an alien osso or an innocent at large?

well, it takes more time in front of the mirror at the tailor's.

It takes quite a lot of time to measure and fit a custom-made suit.
No; for a new tailor, if I wanna try a new one in another city,
measurement is within half an hour. When I return to my principal tailor,
he already has all of my measurements, knows the concealed vest pocket, etc.
Its only a matter of choice of materials for the new suits
(unless I 've put on too much weight, requiring re-measurement).

And usually guys who get their suits custom-made also have their shirts custom-made
Thay already have the measurements, monogram; I need only call and give a credit card # on the fone. Thay send the shirts.

and their ties and then their shoes - and it pretty much goes on from there.
Goes on from there to where ??
I buy ties off the rack.

If you want that sort of thing - go for it. I've seen what it means and costs and I'd rather have an off-the -rack sort of guy.
The girl of my dreams, named Joyce, with whom I was heavily obsessed since age 13 for several decades, took that vu also.
When I got back with her after an absence of 20 years (she was divorcing), I made a point of wearing my very best suit, shirt n tie.
She subsequently suggested that I buy jeans; I did.

Because that is not as good as a slender face; oval, is the ideal.
I got stuck with a squarish face; kinda like J. Edgar Hoover. Agree, Rebecca ?
