I like Angela Martin. Black girl with long hair and a soulful, jazzy voice.
I cannot take Ellen serious at this time. She is trying to be a comedian and this is a voice talent show. Can someone tell me what her credentials are for being on AI Question

Is anyone going to sing a song? Too much to hope for? Am I being too picky?

It was a tough night of TV. I about broke my thumb flipping between watching angst-filled 20-somethings in rooms -just sitting there- waiting, the NBC coverage of the Olympics which, if you are paying attention, has five point two minutes of actual competition per hour and........ a special on, I kid you not,
Melting Glaciers Around the World.

Did they mix up the elimination rooms?

WTF - they kept some real stinkers and passed over some real talent.

Hope that little southern gal gets some help. She has potential.

Americna Idol screwed up with Ruben Stoddard. Right after Luther Vandross died, Stoddard was being touted as ready to take his place. Big disappointment. Stoddard stalled.

Simon is looking for his Luther, still.

I found last night's AI underwhelming. There was more whining and complaining than singing. A couple of people I liked were sent packing.

I so agree with you on this point.

Next season, my wife and I have decided to NOT watch AI until the 24 contestants are actually picked.

What's happening now is waaaaayyyy too much drama and rather boring.

Ain't it the truth. And I won't be watching next season at all if Howard Stern signs on to replace Simon. Skin crawled as I typed his name. Eewww.

I had the wrong name. I have to keep watching to see where the girl singer I like is.
Too bad the girl who played harmonica and guitar is gone, but she just might get offered a contract.
Howard Stern to replace Simon, unheard of, unthinkable, e-gadz, dont rock the boat, dispicable, what does he know, that rice crispies sing!

You're kidding! Is this a rumour, or is there some truth to this?

If it is true, I may seriously think of my viewing any of the show myself.

@Reyn,
I wouldn't watch Howard Stern rescue a baby from a burning building.

I like the personal trainer and the blonde who sang with a harmonica and guitar. If they stick around I will learn their names.

I think it's interesting that people have not even bonded to any of these kids well enough to know their name. too much side stories and drama. Hope they do something about this.

@Roberta,
Thanks for that, Roberta. For the sake of the Idol show, I hope it doesn't become a reality. Shocked

Unfortunately the girl with the guitar and harmonica was not in the top 24. It would have been nice to see more of her exceptional talent.

@Philis,
I looked it up. Her name is Crystal Bowersox and she's in the top 24:

She was eliminated but....... today on Ellen..... Okay I was looking for the Olympics...there she was being interviewed by Ellen.

What a story. She's qualified THREE times, but the first time her Dad had just been shot to death, the second time she had to leave because of some traffic ticket bullshit (six days in jail because she had no money. {hmmm. we DO have debtors prisons.} and this time, I kid you not, her mom has disappeared ---America's Most Wanted disappeared---yipes.

Anyway, she comes on, she can talk (oh, did I mention she a disabled child?? She does.) {god, you bastard, leave her alone.]

Ellen and she talk some more then she goes over to a mic and sings her little heart out. Then Ellen comes over, thanks her and says

"Oh, a little surprise. Kara is going to write you a song and we are going to get you a label."

{Crowd went crzzzzaazy!! me too.)
You know, this woman, who has EVERYTHING thrown at her, just, as Ellen said, "just keeps getting up."

I, who does not buy many cds, will buy the cd.

@Joe Nation,
Wow, that is the BEST story! I just love Ellen and if I'd seen that today I'd have bawled, too! Thanks so much for sharing that.

Finally! Some singing--more or less. Many of the singers sounded the same to me. I agree with the judges that there were some bad song choices.

My two favs: Paige and Siobahn. A personal taste thing.

I wasn't crazy about harmonica girl, but I think she has a lot of potential.
