What is wrong with piddling in all the corners from the dog's point of view.

And I spend half my time on A2K debating with people who never do anything else but protest. They can only protest against religious belief because they have nothing to offer as an alternative apart from fm's re-education camps.

Ed has arrived at the position that protesting anything he says defines protest. They are all like that.

I come on this thread to enjoy football, not for spendi's neuroses to get all the attention.

@farmerman,
Delight!!!??? What--watching people suffering and pretending to be risking their lives. And I didn't say it wasn't fun. I said it was kinky fun. You can't even read properly.

I get off on ladies looking comfy and poco-curante on beds and couches. Either I'm kinky or you are.

And I shouldn't have to remind you yet again that what a drunk says is not rendered stupid because he's drunk. Sober people are just as capable of stupidity as drunks. When are you going to get that obvious truth into your thick skull.

If you will consult Tristram Shandy you will find that our Gothic ancestors discussed all important matters drunk and sober in order to come to a properly balanced conclusion. (see Volume VI Chapter XVII). A combination of vigour and discretion. Sober discretion usually embraces nothing but polite wittering.

Bollocks. Sitting on your arse watching it and proving by coming near bottom on the Pick-UM game that it's just colour and movement and an excuse to jack your ego off.

We are dealing with a 14 day vacuum.

Yeah, but you quote him, so I have to read it to read you.

It's a fine line. We enjoy digressions in slow times. Just not wars outside of football wars.. here. There are enough threads for religious, philosophical, political divisions or agreements.

@ossobuco,
One more week. One more week. Colts over Saints or Saints over Colts.
And then, and then, the paperwork from year 6 will get fed into my paperwork shredder and I can put the year, another year, behind us.
Please try to be nice to each other for one more, just one more, week. And then I can run, run away for a spell.

Um, Carpenter, Placekicker (Miami). What a joke.
That is, perhaps, the collective wisdom from us here re the Pro Bowl.
So say we all.

We all enjoy our diversions our own way. In sports, to some, it's all about picking winners. Following everything to that end. Others are there for the camaraderie of friends. I participate here to be friendly, but I watch the game just to follow my favorite teams. I don't pay attention to what other teams are up to very much, until the playoffs. When I pick teams to win or lose, I don't do so from a base of knowledge, but impressions that are generally outmoded, because I don't want to take the time to know more. Spendi loves to pick winners so he can brag about it. I don't expect to win and do not direct my energies to that end. To me, it truly is "just a game."

@edgarblythe,
I somewhat raised myself on sports stories of different years from the local library. Those and other books, but the sport stories tended to engage me. I'm more cynical now, all these years later, but the stories are still why I pay attention.

Watched the Pro Bowl for a little while.
It was like watching touch football at the company picnic -- but without the
hard-hitting intensity.

You should be enjoying the big news here then osso about the England football captain, John Terry, who has been, it seems, committing adultery with the rather fetching wife of Wayne Bridge who is also an England team member and who has said he is "in bits" over it. Before Mr Bridge was transferred to Manchester City for $16 million he was a team mate of Mr Terry at Chelsea who are currently top of the Premiership and odds on to win the title in May.

There have been court injunctions gagging the press, now thankfully lifted, and the story is headline news in almost all media outlets and government ministers are involved in the argument over whether Mr Terry can captain England in the World Cup finals or even be a member of the team.

It's not unlike a star wide receiver being caught in bed with the quarter-back's wife.

"Sometimes you need a break from the sun."
So spoke a person from the Miami Visitors' Center today as the Colts and Saints arrived in town and were met by steady rain that interfered with their practice plans.
So it goes.
Sunday's forecast is for a 20% chance of rain.
