@realjohnboy,
How can he be expected to pick on games he doesn't know who is going to be playing in Johnny? And which he might have no further interest in.

Here goes nuthin.

GAME #1 (4:30 pm ET 1/16) New Orleans Saints
GAME #2 (8:15 pm ET 1/16) Indianapolis Colts
GAME #3 (1:00 pm ET 1/17) Dallas Cowboys
GAME #4 (4:40 pm ET 1/17) San Diego Chargers

GAME #5 (1/24) New Orleans Saints
GAME #6 (1/24) Indianapolis Colts

GAME #7 (2/7) Indianapolis Colts 38 - 28

I'm secretly pulling for the Saints.
I'm not so secretly pulling for Phillipe Rivers to get his bell rung.

The non-answer to your criticism, Spendi, is that this is the way I have run this in the past. I am sticking with it.
A longer version goes like this: This structure is commonly used in office pools in the U.S. One set of predictions all the way through (+ $5) with the winner pocketing all the loot at the end. Bosses will turn a blind eye to this technically illegal game as long as it doesn't consume a lot of time being wasted in the workplace - which would happen with weekly picks, I think.
I believe that there are players here who will commit to one series of picks, all at once, who would not play if they had to come back each week. They are not that interested in football.
I have set up the game-within-a-game thing that is probably not widely understood yet. Points are awarded for correct picks. I think that will keep folks coming back to see how they are doing.*
Finally, Spendi, there is a selfish motive. I have run this thing for 18 weeks of football games so far, plus a couple of weeks at the beginning and a few weeks still to go. I am getting weary after almost half a year. I was happy to see JPB (who ran this in year 4 of 6) report on how we did in the Wild Card Games. That was sweet. Not having to email players each week begging for picks makes me happy.
*By the way, yesterday evening when I went to bed, there had been 1645 views of this thread. This evening: 2260. That's +615. 25 players. That works out to 25 per player. Go figure.
I hope that this explains my rationale, Spendi, for why this is set up the way it is.

@realjohnboy,
Okay--but not having a suggestions box has cost many a company dear.

You do it your way. We don't want a lot of time being wasted in the workplace. Not with 10% unemployed and and all the other distractions from maximum efficiency.

I click on this thread everytime there's a fresh post on it. And to refresh my memory on top.

And there's no need to get shirty. It's not that big a deal. My suggestion was entirely concerned with maximising the fun for the most players.

@spendius,
With all due respect, I don't think I was being shirty. I tried to answer your query - not with a "It's my game. Love it or leave it." Rather, I tried to explain the reasoning behind why it is set up the way it is.

@djjd62,
There can not be a tie, dude. Don't wimp out on us by not completing your picks. Minn vs Balt + final score.

@realjohnboy,
read my post, i detail how it's going to go in a logical fashion, explaining why each team will win and why the final will be a tie, no one else has done that

@Rockhead,
i'm not difficult, i just don't believe i have to accept the given parameters, just because there's never been a tie,and the rules state that a tie can't happen, doesn't mean it won't happen, i will probably be proved wrong, but if not

woo hoo, i'll be the champion, my friend

@Gargamel,
Thanks, Gargamel. Please give us the final score in the Super Bowl between the Cowboys and the Colts. Thanks.
14 players in so far. 5 different picks of who the champs will be. No one choosing the Ravens yet.

Here is the schedule for the Divisional Round next weekend (1/16-17), the Championship Round (1/24), and the Super Bowl XLIV Game (2/7):

GAME #1 (4:30 pm ET 1/16) Arizona Cardinals @ New Orleans Saints
GAME #2 (8:15 pm ET 1/16) Baltimore Ravens @ Indianapolis Colts
GAME #3 (1:00 pm ET 1/17) Dallas Cowboys @ Minnesota Vikings
GAME #4 (4:40 pm ET 1/17) NY Jets @ San Diego Chargers

GAME #5 (1/24) Winner of GAME #1 vs Winner of GAME #3
GAME #6 (1/24) Winner of GAME #2 vs Winner of GAME #4

GAME #7 (2/7) Winner of GAME #5 vs Winner of GAME #6. Please also predict the final score in the Super Bowl Game (#7)

It might be useful to know, if anyone can find the info, which teams will enjoy home field advantage in games 5 and 6.

Just to recap the rules for this. I did not realize when I set this up that it was not practical for us to pick all the way through starting with the Wild Card Games just completed. Instead we picked those games - with 1 point being awarded to each player who made a correct pick.
NOW we are ready to pick all the way through using the schedule above regardless of which games you picked in the Wild Card Games.
AND it doesn't matter that (like Miz Cowdoc) you didn't pick the Wild Card Games. You can still play - but everyone must choose all 7 games in 1 sitting.
The winner will be the player who correctly picks the Super Bowl Champ (with the tiebreaker being the final score - more about that later).
There is a little game-within-a-game thing where we accumulate points for correct picks: 1 point for good pick in the Wild Card Games, 2 points for correct picks in the Divisional Round, 5 in the Championship Round and 6 in the Super Bowl Game.
Folks who played in the Wild Card Round have a head start with 1, 2 or 3 points already in their columns. And some are at 0.
Again:
Pick all 7 games by 1 pm ET Saturday 1/16. Add a guess as to the final score of the Super Bowl game. You can change your picks up to 1 pm 1/16.
Thanks for playing.

By the way, Spendi, you have used the word "shirty" a couple of times. I assume that that is intended as a less coarse synonym for "shitty." Is that the extent of it?
