When that term is employed pejoratively
it is almost invariably by leftists against patriotic, pro-freedom Americans.
It 's a safe bet that no southerner will be called a "red neck"
by a scornful liberal, if the described person leans to the left,
no matter what his color is.
Leftists apply that term to anti-Roosevelt, anti-Kennedy pro-freedom citizens.
I do try not to, but he had, as I remember, a scalding take on those who derided rednecks, workers who naturally obtained red and (my words, later leathered necks). But on research there seem to be other posts, and I'm not chasing them.

They tend to be Scots/Irish in decent, and usually make great soldiers, at least in wartime.
Haha How did you know that?
The thing about American Country Music is that the lyric usually actually mean something, i mean well, have you heard the song "Thats Not My Name?"
Quote:
They call me girl
They call me Stacey
They call me her
They call me Jane
That's not my name
That's not my name
That's not my name
That's not my name
