I started the year off right with a 3.8 loop today.
Not especially fast, but I was out there.

@George,
Tnx, that helps. I'm a long time big walker/sometime fair jogger, though with intervals of time between some of that. Stopped when I landed here, for 50 reasons - but dammit, I enjoy it once I get in gear, as in, just go out the door and do it. Will report progress off and on.

@ossobuco,
Excellent.

Rhys and I will go to the gym after lunch. We'll do a short run outside
afterwards. (Weather dependent)

@George,
Ok, I got out there. First, assembled misc id, cell, etc. in my old walking purse (ties around waist), in case I break my neck. Put on my special yellow sneaker sox, then my nike airs, which still fit and were on the new side when I more or less stopped wearing running shoes. Coat, wooly scarf, my italian black beret, no mittens (it's just under 40). Twenty minutes of fast for me now street walking around bunch of blocks and our small park. I can't do sidewalk walking here, too much like walking a concrete wave system as the small townhouse driveways dot the streetscape. This is a low traffic tract(oid) so there was no car dodging to do.

Now to keep it up. I'm hoping to improve my balance gradually.

Yep. Persistence. That's what does it.

There's a mighty cold wind blowing today, so I stayed indoors. I divided my
time between the stationary bike and some rowing.

There's a mirror all along one wall of the workout room. I hate it. Every
time I catch sight of myself, I instinctively try to suck my gut in. Not much
you can do about beer wings, though.

After a week and a half of indoor workouts, I finally jogged outside
yesterday and today!

Meanwhile my weight is creeping up and up. Time to get serious.

@George,

haven't done anything since the 10k (except for a dammit-i'm-late mad-dash
to avoid getting charged for being extremely late to a dental appointment).

hope to get out tomorrow afternoon and do a 4-miler before The Game ...

So, I'm going to run my fifth NYC Marathon in November. My weight has been soaring for the past five months and I haven't really done any running. (So not like me)
Here's where I am. I've lost weight for the last four weeks. YAY.
Diet, but not much exercise, has brought good results. Down seven pounds from the holiday bloat.
I've looked for and found my tights and winter gear.
I have good shoes.
Now all I have to do is haul my big ass out the door, right?

@Joe Nation,
Marathon?

Jeez, my goal is a 10K done in fewer minutes than I have years in my age.

@George,
Right now my goal is to not stink up the place during the next 5K. My right knee is claiming it will be all right, but I don't believe it.

@jespah,
Doing any leg extensions?
Those always help me.
