Soooo . . .
after messing my back up a couple of times and grooming the Lower Bear
Claw trail at Loon Mt. with my ass, I'm back to square one. Well, square two.
Yesterday was square one. It was a lovely day so I rousted out my man Rhys
and we went on a long walk around Horn Pond. I had taken him out to lunch
at Kelly's, so he couldn't very well refuse. I would have pulled rank on him
anyway.

Today was square two. I did the Fat Man Shuffle for a mile and then walked
a mile. Some discomfort, but not much. My stride is ridiculously short
right now. Going forward, I need to concentrate on lengthening it.

Tomorrow, I'll jog at least a mile and a half. Two, maybe. Depends how I
feel. Wouldn't kill me to drop a few pounds, either. I'm on the RC 40-day
diet plan right now.

@George,

i'm finding it ain't easy getting back up to speed.
we spent all weekend raking leaves n' junk,
so whatever progress i'd made the weekend before is pretty much nullified.

will try to do 3.1 wednesday.
hopefully the yardwork soreness will be manageable by then...

Gonna be 51 and sunny here in the Merrimac Valley today.
Time for the first run in shorts.
Not a pretty sight.

I ran 1 mile on Monday, 2 miles on Tuesday.
Wednesday we headed north and I got some skiing in on a gorgeous, sunny day.
Today I did 3 miles.
I love it when a plan comes together.

Yesterday three miles and today four.
The knees are a little achy and my back tends to stiffen when I sit too long.
The bunion has been quiet. This is good.
But on the whole, the comeback is going well.
I'll probably give the legs the day off from running tomorrow and let the
system do its maintenance.

@George,
Sozlet and friend dragged me to the track today. They wanted to "jog." I thought I was chaperoning, planned to noodle at my Blackberry for a bit until they were done. No, they insisted that I run with them. (I was dressed for the gym, but hadn't made it to the gym, so I had exactly zero excuses.) First time outside in a while. Owie. I'm kinda twangy everywhere.

I felt better today than I have in a long time. The stiffness and soreness is all
but gone. Early this morning I did some stretching, something I usually neglect.
It was rainy and windy outside, a real mess. But I went out and did 2.6 miles at
a fairly decent pace. Right now that means a hair under ten-minute miles.

They say it will be sunny tomorrow. I hope to get four miles in at a comfortable
pace. The goal for the week is at least 12 miles.

@George,
The twangs were short-lived, which is good. Maybe I should run outside more, dunno. I like the treadmill, but is that good or bad? I really worry about injuring myself to the point where it's hard to keep up my workout schedule. That happened to the third person in our group (she got injured, then a bit worse, and just hasn't worked out since).

@sozobe,
Just remember that any time you change
shoes
surfaces
or speed
you've got to be careful.

Ah, that sun felt good today. Ran four leisurely miles in shorts and a
long-sleeved tee. Lots o joggers out at noon and evrybody looked
relatively happy.

Maybe I'll try some intervals tomorrow.
