I ran a round in Central Park this afternoon. It's almost exactly six miles long, and took me 79 minutes to complete. This Sunday I'm supposed to run a Half Marathon (13.1 miles), and the finish line will be closing after three hours flat. Talk about a close shave. Also, my quadriceps is sore after those itty bitty 6 miles. Now I'm wondering if I'd be better off volunteering on Sunday. Decisions, decisions ....

@Thomas,
I never got that far. But.. discretion is the better part of valor. You are doing generally well and are in it for the long run. There are other races.

Only the 12/31/2009 version of myself with his stupid New Year's resolutions.

I guess I'll decide it on my commuter train to Penn Station. It's a close decision.

@Rockhead,
No running for me for a while. Might be a day to start a lil walking again; I just wish it wasn't so damned cold.

I spent last work week confined to a meeting room working on a project to
improve repair turn-arounds from the Widget Factory's UK group. We had
very short lunch breaks, so no running from work. We had breakfast pastries,
free lunches, and afternoon snacks (huge cookies, mostly), plus we took the
visiting Brits out to eat one night at The Cheesecake Factory so lots of insane
eating. I'm a mess.

I went for a slow four-miler on Sunday. That was my mileage for the week.

Ack.

Started back the running today. By running i mean slowly shuffling my feet in a semi quick motion. Slight pain in my ribs but not bad bad. Legs feel dead, gotta keep them moving

I did the Half-Marathon on Sunday. Not having run any farther than an eight mile lately (actually back in December and on nice, flat, dry Florida roadways.) I knew I should just take it easy which is exactly what I did. I kept my pace at a little over 10 minute miles and took my time at two water (Gatorade) stops. 2:15:39 finishing waaaay back in the pack, but feeling good and strong.

My goal now is to run another four half s this year, each one faster than the last. (Kind of like when my brother wanted to win most improved bowler in his league--- he bowled the first week like he had never SEEN a bowling alley. Such improvement!!!)

did a slow jog up to and around the reservoir yesterday ( ~ 2 miles), my first time out in almost 3 months.

my better half and i followed that up last night with a 3-mile walk, so hopefully not too much soreness to follow...

@Region Philbis,
So far, so good. And I think it was 3.75 miles or so (I know what 3 MPH feels like, and we took 1 hr 15 mins, so ....).

No running for me for a while. More healing must happen first.

managed a 5k jog (2 reservoir laps) yesterday.
hadda stop a minute for a sharp pain in the left heel.
but it went away as fast as it arose, so i plodded on.

my goal right now is 3 laps by mid-april.
i figure if i can do 3, then 2 should be a breeze...

@Thomas,
Not quite there yet (I'm actually still in recovery mode -- running seems, erm, too bouncy for me right now).
