@George,
I don't know if any of you are still reading Jes's Boston Marathon thread, but I added a tribute there that I read by the author Haruki Murakami - he's run the Boston Marathon 6 times..

I can see that if I were so close to it as some of you I might not want to read more endlessly.

@ossobuco,
I find it hard to look in on the Marathon Bombing threads. They are now
places for the same old grinding of the same old axes. On and on it goes.

I enjoyed the article you posted. Murakami-san truly gets it.

I'll be running in my first ever race this evening. Lord have mercy on my soles and soul. A 3.5 mile race in Central Park. Surprised

@ossobuco,
On the form, I predicted a 30 minute running time since I never ran 3.5

JPMCCC New York:

@Region Philbis,
Thanks George. Though my pace was about 30 seconds per minute slower then what I usually do on the treadmill. Still, a good learning experience in regarding the hows to maneuver around other runners.

Thanks RP: Yes. Yes sir it was. Smile

@tsarstepan,

outdoor races provide a whole set of challenges you don't get on the tradmill.

tuesday night we ran a 5k in a steady downpour, so we were dodging puddles most of the way...

@Region Philbis,
I guess running in the rain, you never have to worry about overheating and dehydration. Razz Wink

@Region Philbis,
I run without my glasses (awkward as that was) as I find them uncomfortable to wear while running.

@tsarstepan,
I liked running in the rain, for sure, back when I did run, but steady downpour? (turn that water down a notch, please!)

@tsarstepan,
I use the eyeglass holder thingies surfers use. And it was very, very rainy Tuesday night - very hard to see.

I need small wiper blades.
