@Region Philbis,
Gun time was 48:14 I think. Net time was 45:33. About 3:45 slower than last year's time.
@jespah,
I think you'll need to copy the links into your browser to see 'em, but these are from the Jingle Bell Run.

@Region Philbis,
We signed up because, when our ancesters came over from the Motherland, they were originally named O'Philbis.
@jespah,
I wonder if they came over on the same boat as the Stantonsteins?
New years eve day, I was finishing up the living room part of the addition we have been working on for some time... The guy working with me was in the house doing details, and because we had moved funiture in, his van was parked up in the cull de Sak, accross the commons area beside our house... Since that was the likely route to his van, and we had to load a wet saw, I was looking, shovel in hand for dog bombs... Suddenly, the cop who has been hanging out across from the house on harding took off, and since I heard his engine and tires first, I thought he was after the one who took off fast... Not so. A Burger King had gotten robbed, and he first headed in the direction of the robbery and then picked up the trail of the crooks... I hear him coming back and then some one at a high rate breaking, missing the corner, sliding into the curb and taking out the lamp post... I'm in my back yard, shovel in hand and here come three black guys who were in the car at a high rate... I tell them to stop and they just looked at me and scattered... Well, not knowing, I thought the might just be kids joy riding. and I was more worried about them trying to escape and getting killed for nothing... But these were grown men, young, mid twenties, well built, over dressed for the warm day, coats and hoodies...
My wife and Danny stuck their heads out the back door, and I said call 911.. Here come the cop who was just behind them, saying did you see them... My wife says their one going over that fense... That was one of the two who had broke to my left... The cop headed in that direction, and he slipped and fell, and then he tripped and fell on a chain I had taut, moving a storage shed in the back... I picked him up and saw the black guy clear the second fence and hit the woods... I said come on to the cop, and we hit the woods.... I knew the woods and the criminal didn't ... I was in better shape than the cop or criminal, and we ran that guy to bay... It didn't help the criminal that he jumped several 5 ft fences and the tried to run up hill... But if he had run straight up the hill, he could have broke left or right and we might have lost him...
It pays to stay in shape...

Usually, I am on the other side of the law... The law caught two outa three, and thinks there may be a fourth who got away as well... The funny part was the heaving in the guy's chest before he finally gave up and started walking... He looked fit, but he wasn't... And I looked over at the cop and he was sucking in these great big breaths too... I'll bet I got thirty years on both of them and asthma, and I wasn't even breathing heavy yet... I pointed to my shoe and the last timing chip I had on there still, and said: It pays to stay in shape..
What we ran was about what I have been training at, a little over an eighth of a mile, and I can do that at over 9 mph on the treadmill... And I knew the woods and the trails... I just said: You got a gun; follow me, and he did until we hit the neighbor's back yard... Then he cleared to my left for a clear shot and told the criminal to stop right now... Game over... And for nothing... A few dollars... That is like twenty to life here, for nothing...
this is what we'll be running for in <gasp!> 3 weeks --

Will they allow you to hydrate and carbo-load with beer? Where do I sign up?
@Thomas,
The course info describes several pubs.
@jespah,
i'm quite sure race organizers would look the other way if i were wearing one of these bad boys --
@Region Philbis,
It's very important to remain properly hydrated.
@jespah,
You should come down for the Coogan's Run. About four miles, two miles up hill, finish by running two miles downhill.!
