Turkeyman trot... 34.04 chip time, 43 out of a field of 57... If I had stopped to stretch out my calf that was knoted up instead of trying to walk it out twic after the first 2 miles, I would have had a better time... Considering all the training I did not do for the race, it was great... My wife ran a 28.16... My sister, who I never even saw there was much fatser by far... But she has no life... Just another body nazi without kids, waiting to grow old and die unmourned.. We all had a really good, fun thanksgiving...

Turkey-burning time.

Jogged from my house around Spot Pond and back. That's a little over ten
kilometers and the longest I've run in quite a while. Dismal day, though.
Overcast, cloudy and 39F (feels colder).

Now for a long, hot shower.

Pretty good for the race actually... Rain before and after...Temps in the forties... I finally had to stop in the third mile to stretch my calf, but a girl I know from Volley Ball went by and said hello, and I got back to running with her for a while, but her pace was just a hair fast for me, and she is about half my age... So I walked for a couple of seconds before I reached the finish line, and as soon as I caught just a little of my breath I ran, and I do mean ran across, feeling strong... I wish I had stopped sooner to stretch; and not to say that I neglected to stretch before hand, but it just got God awful cramped and painful before I stopped... I got through two miles without stopping... Since I have not had time to train, that in itself was good...Enjoying every minute, turned 57 the day before, but I can't wait for spring and that spell before it gets too hot when I can run regularly outside... Come on spring, Amen...

Double frustration today.

Frustration number one: After resisting the urge to stay in bed, I did get up at 5 am and set out to run the Joe-Kleinerman 10k in Central Park, which starts at 8 am. On arriving at Penn Station at 6:20, I sat down in a cafe to procrastinate going out into the freezing cold. While waiting for my Cappuccino, I looked down at my shoes. The D-Tag, a chip the New York Road Runners use for time-keeping, wasn't on; I had left it at home.

So I took the next train back and set out to book the tickets for my Christmas flight back to Germany, leading to frustration number two: Lufthansa made me a deal I couldn't refuse for my flight to Germany. But it's a Sunday-evening flight: Just early enough to thwart my project to run the Somerset Jingle Bell run that day. So I have to cancel that. Grrrrr!

Are there any other December runs that would give me an excuse to visit Boston one last time this year?

Last week was my first twenty-mile week in months.
Left foot is a little iffy, but nothing serious.
I'm taking the weekend off from running, but I did a pretty good leg workout at
the gym.

25°F and windy here in scenic Chelmsford.
I went out for a two-and-a-half miler.
Not surprisingly, I ran my fastest pace in weeks.
Brr.

I pulled on shorts and then track pants. On top I layered a Reebok play-dry
tee, a cotton tee, and my 1995 Feaster Five sweatshirt. I put on glove
liners and gloves over them. Socks, shoes and a hat and I was ready to go.
The weather.com site said it was 24F with a wind chill of 15F. Brisk.

I did my 4-mile Turnpike Road loop. There were about ten other runners I
saw along the way. If you're gonna do the sweets, you gotta do the streets.

We won't, I'm afraid.
By the way, I just checked out their page.
They are "sold out".

@Region Philbis,
When results are up (not yet), they'll be accessible from around 80% of the way down this page: http://www.baevents.com/jinglebell/

My time was around 48:10 but that's not official. There were staggered starts so I expect it to be faster than that, although by no more than maybe a minute.

One nice touch: because we had running chips in our bibs, there were guys at a few locations who were checking laptops and would call out the names of people who were running by. It was neat. I heard them say someone from Brighton while I was huffing past and it may very well have been me (I had Queen on plus I was huffing -- hard to hear). Saw two people I used to work with at the publishing company, too, and two gals I go on the diet site with (Joe Nation may know one of 'em; I think I've introduced them). Smile

Yeah. I remember the last time we raced together.
I was dressed for autumn in New England.
You were dressed for the Iditarod.

@George,

i've reached the stage where comfort wins out over form every time... Embarrassed
(if it's any consolation, i did leave a layer home, albeit by accident...)
