@Thomas,
That's awesome!

I ran 1.5 miles today.

On a treadmill.

As I was running I was thinking of you guys going 26 miles.

Holy crap.

@sozobe,

i'm trying to imagine the training (and commitment) it takes to average a 5-minute mile for 26 miles straight,
which is what the top male marathon runners strive for...

Hey...how are y'all?
I don't ever get to be on the top of many lists, but here : http://www.runningahead.com/groups/1000MileClub/YTDDistance
Of course, what you can't see is that about 100 gals/gals have already finished their 1000 miles weeks and weeks ago and have been taken off the top.
Next goal: beat last year's mileage: 1042.

@Joe Nation,
oh, hat off for you.
i was so getting ready to go running today that i fell asleep for two hours. i did start running again though, but i'm usually happy if i reach some 10 miles a week. too bad you always run back home. if your running were linear, you'd be in Bratislava by now.

@Joe Nation,
you can take an ocean liner. they have running tracks, i bet. You'll just have to make sure to run as many miles as the liner passes. easy.

@Joe Nation,
Awesome! And, congratulations for earning guaranteed entry into the 2011 New York Marathon!

For me, it's been a 38:09. Definitely a PR.

I can remember 5ks that took me longer to run this year. Or, looking forward, I'll break an hour at the Joe Kleinerman 10k on December 5 if I keep up this pace for two more miles and a quarter. It's been a perfect day so far. Off to Sandy Hook for a slow long run.

@jespah,
By the time the Jingle Bell Run is scheduled, I plan to be beyond running, and to teleport directly from start to finish. I use the word "teleport" so you muggles understand it. The correct technical term is Apparate.

@sozobe,
You mean HP7? No, I haven't seen it yet. Generally, I much prefer the HP books to the movies. The movies always seem like an awkward compromise to me. They omit half of the good stuff that's in the books, yet they still feel crammed with material, and still feel like the re-telling of a book, rather than like cinema. As I said, an awkward compromise. For fantasy cinema---TV actually---that is better than the books it came from, you'll need to wait until Sozlet is old enough for True Blood.

@Thomas,
I definitely agree re: books vs. movies, the last three (4, 5 and 6) annoyed the heck out of me for various reasons. (Not least of which is NO DOBBY.) But this one really stuck much closer to the books (with the occasional annoying detour) and was much more satisfying for that reason, IMO.

I still prefer the books, but this was one of the better movies (the best since I started reading the books, by a long shot, but I didn't start reading the books til after I saw the third one).

@Region Philbis,
from the name, it sounds like a white station wagon rally...

between barnes and nobles locations.
