I just finished the New York Road Runners 5 (-miler). Because it was my dress rehearsal for The Big One, my time didn't need to be spectacular, and it wasn't (54:15). And, I'm almost qualified for the 2011 Marathon already. One more race once I've finished the 2010 one.

Interesting New Yorker article on the advisability, or not, of trying to change one's stride - Alberto Salazar as coach.

Here's the video -

Anyone watching the NYC marathon? I'm wondering how many of the elites heel strike or not..

@Region Philbis,
26:13? That sounds personal-record-ish, doesn't it? As I remember it, you're usually in the 28s, no? Anyway, well done!

@Izzie,
Snowdon!

And running, for me, is defined as slightly faster than walking.

It's all good, love.

@Region Philbis,
Today I'm feeling much better. The hamstrings and the quadricepses still burn a bit, but they no longer need any Ibuprofen. Everything else is fully recovered: I don't feel any exhaustion or burnout cardiovascular-wise. (Never did, not even at the finish line.) I'm not feeling the slightest sting in any joints, which surprises me a little. My feet haven't even sprouted the tiniest blister. Nothing! Perhaps that cockamamie tale is right after all: Preparation does help when you're running a Marathon.

I'll go to the gym for some light ellipticalling later today.
