I so love the way Roger's mind works. A little snippet here and there about shared experiences, plants some seeds of "Oh get over yourself."
Whew littlek. I've just read the thread from the beginning. It was like a soap opera--so like 99% of family interactions, a mystery, building to anxiety, with worry over whether your birthday will be sacrificed to spoiled, hurt feelings.
My mother's family would never let the complaints creep back under the rock. Every year, during my visit, mom would tell me which of her sisters to ignore. Sigh.
This sounds cold, but it is so much easier now that the aunts and moms are all dead. The cousins get along just fine.
Most important of all, have a Happy Birthday!!
